History Along the Maumee: An audio driving tour following the history of Ohio

The history of Northwest Ohio is interwoven with threads of myth, legend and folklore that come together along the banks of the Maumee River. Follow them with me on this self guided audio tour as we travel from downtown Toledo to Grand Rapids and back on a journey that shows off the magnificent beauty of the Maumee Valley – and might also reshape your understanding of both the past and present.

Our tour takes in...

• Toledo Middlegrounds
• Tecumseh's encounter with General Proctor at Fort Miami
• Dudley's Massacre
• The House of Four Pillars
• Roche de Bout
• Two ghost towns and a few ghost stories
• Nazareth Hall
• A story from a soldier at Fort Meigs
• Toledo's Gold Coast

There are plenty of delightful places to stop and eat on our 2-hour tour – or, if you prefer, you can pack a basket and enjoy a riverside picnic in one of the many parks we'll come across along the way.

Great find in Toledo! Stopped by on the way to Michigan. They are located in town with convenient parking options near the brewery. They are housed in a really cool historic building. Their pizza creations pair nicely with their amazing beer creations. I was pleased with the beers and the pizza! I will be back the next time I am in the area!

We come here as often as possible. We come for the beer-----we come for the pizza---we come for the atmosphere---we come for the friendly and knowlegable staff!!! The beer is the best we have had including those in our travels around the country. The pizza is really wonderful(which was a pleasant surprise)!! Fun to sit at the bar and talk to the staff and friendly patrons. Since they have been opened they have only gotten better and better~!

We stopped in the Black Cloister for a late lunch. We tried two of their microbrews, both excellent, and split the bbq chicken pizza. The pizza was heavy with toppings and absolutely perfect. Highly recommend, would return the next time we are in town!

This location has an amazing feel to it. However, the staff seemed to be overwhelmed by the number of patrons the night we were there.
