Someone said the falls is only .3 of a mile, that is incorrect. The sign towards the beginning said .8 mile left, so I'm guessing it's about a 2 mile round trip from the parking lot. We had my 70 year old father with us for Father's Day, and were visiting 6 falls on that side of the state for his gift. He could not walk this one as it was too far. It would be okay for the elderly or disabled if they had a wheelchair maybe. I can't really speak a lot on the falls cause my husband and I didn't want him sitting in the car while we walked to them. I can say the parking lot was nice and there were plenty of spots. There were restrooms which seemed nice. Also, there were a few dogs on leashes on the path.

We went here after little rainfall so there were technically no falls to see. Given that, it was still a beautiful fall walk through the nature preserve. The walk to the falls from the parking lot was about 10 minutes, When you get to the upper falls, there is a short stairway to the lower falls, and then from there, you can continue past the falls through a trail that takes you past a natural hole in the mountain (narrow but deep) which was fun to explore. The ranger stopped to talk with us which was nice, and he recommended we download an App (OuterSpatial) that talks about the park and shares it's many trials, as well as other Ohio parks. Great tip!

We went yesterday (January 11th), and it was the most majestic thing I’ve ever seen. My son turned 10 today, and despite getting gifts and going to Great Wolf Lodge later in the day, his favorite part was the preserve.
The trails are very nice, well taken care of. The scenery is beautiful. I would’ve liked some additional hand rails once up on the higher parts, but trekking poles make it an easy hike. Some of the steps, especially down by the falls, are very high. Again, I would suggest trekking poles. The rocks are beautiful, the creeks, and the falls ... WOW. When we went, the birch trees were in the background, and then ice was all over the falls. There were icicles all over, and the bottom of the falls was completely covered ice.
The steps, boardwalk, etc are very well maintained. When we were there, there was a ranger and he told us all about it. I strongly urge you to go see the falls in the winter. It’s not muddy, and there’s hardly anyone else there. Definitely a must see. Make sure to bring poles and to have tons of time to enjoy everything.

We went here with some friends and enjoyed our walk around the trails. The trails are very easy to walk on and there is nothing strenuous. A few up and down a bun nothing too huge.
The water fall was not flowing too well in early Nov. 2020.
Very nice place to walk and see nature!

The falls preserve was lovely, although it was more of a water 'trickle' than a water 'fall' :) But, it's free to park and visit, and was worth the visit...not much else to do in the area!
I was expecting it to be right near the entrance after reading the reviews, but it ended up being a much longer walk than expected to see the falls...about .9 mile each way. Not usually a problem, but I was recovering from a sports injury so I had to take it slow. Oh, and it was over 90 out, which made the walk a bit less enjoyable. But, not a bad way to spend an afternoon hiking with family...they had several trails to choose from if you want something more advanced.
I'd go back if I was ever in the area again...would be cool to see in the fall or winter.

Relaxing walk on very well marked trails. We covered about 2.5 miles by sticking to the outer loop trails. The falls were dry - no more than an occasional drip. The bathrooms were open and clean.

Great place to take a nature walk or have a picnic. However, if it’s the falls you are looking for you may be disappointed. The falls are often not more than just a trickle.

I loved it! One of those less-known, undiscovered, hidden places that will amaze you! Mother Nature's masterpiece! Not a swimming hole though, unless you don't mind the company of water snake family! ;)

Th falls are great when the water is flowing. The trails are very good, except many are gravel. The area is very diverse and offers shaded hikes as well as a wildflower field trail. The frog pond may never let you see a frog, but you can hear them often enough.

Charleston Falls Preserve is a wonderful place to visit! It's also pet friendly! There are some trails that Y off and don't have markings so my first time here I really walked around all the trails to familiarize myself with the layout of the area. There is a trash bin as you enter the trail but I haven't seen any along the trails. unfortunately I have seen quite a bit of trash along the trail mainly around the seating areas. Most of the trails are tree covered making it nice even when the temperature outside can be on the hotter side. There are public restrooms at the parking lot.
