Okay Body of Water
Jun 2021
My wife and I visited CJ Brown Dam and Reservoir at both the public landing and the marina today. The reservoir water was extremely murky - visibility limited to no more than six inches below the top of the water. I presume this is the norm for Ohio reservoirs since they are 'drain'-fed versus spring-fed. I am accustomed to the pristine, clear waters of spring-fed lakes in Wisconsin. I wouldn't be interested in swimming in drain-fed reservoirs.

Beautiful Scenery

Our daughter, son-in-law and four of our grandkids live in Springfield, Ohio and we often visit this beautiful Lake. It makes us proud to live and play in Ohio.

Great Experience
Jun 2018 • Family
This is a great area to camp, hike, boat, fish have a family picnic and Great for youth outings.
Ranger Brian is AWESOME!! I took a group of children for a summer day camp there two years in a a row and he made sure the girls got to experience the outdoors from hike, fishing, water safety, and planting wild flowers. His programs were amazing. I highly recommend if you have a youth group you visit CJ Brown and set something up for a great experience with Ranger Brian.

This place is packed with things to do. Sit on the water, ride in a boat. camp, fish or rent a cabin. It's a very nice area to spend the day with family. It is very large park and several picnic areas are available.

Sunday boating on the lake
Jun 2018 • Family
First time on the lake with our new to us 21 ft Sea Ray open bow. Cruising, swimming, tubing, etc. Ramp is 4or 5 lanes, easy in and easy out. LOTS of great parking. Did not check out the marina, but paperwork says full service. Really surprised there were not more people out. Sailboats, jet skis, power boats. Nor crowded on a gorgeous Sunday.

Great Place for Outdoor Activities.
Feb 2017 • Friends
I often go birding here. Sometimes I kayak and sometimes ride my bike. I often just walk. It is a beautiful place with a large reservoir, various park area, a camp ground and cabins. I have not camped, but I have used the cabins and was very pleased with the cleanliness and rustic atmosphere. There is a lake view from at least two cabins, maybe more. Overall, C.J. Brown Dam and Reservoir is wonderful. In fact, the campground and cabins are at Buck Creek State Park, but the two places are there together. Of course, there are places to picnic. Disc golf and fishing are two activities I haven't done, but many people do.

Fair Hiking and Fishing.
Jan 2017 • Solo
Been going to the reservoir for years. Not a bad place to get in a little exercise via hike.
They have made some attempts over the past couple years to clean it up a little and spark some more visitors. Paved paths and walking across the dame attracts locals.
You can do a little bit of everything with fishing, cabins, playgrounds, and open space but I wouldn't drive it if you are far away.

The place to get away
Oct 2016 • Family
There is a beach, boat launch, camping and many shelters and picnic tables and plenty of trails. They also have cabins if you don't want to stay outside. This is not out of the way and within minutes of shopping and the local cuisine.

For a Quiet Afternoon
Aug 2016 • Solo
There are nature trails, a nature museum, and a walkway across the dam. Much of the land is given over to prairie plants. There are also individual picnic tables, as well as a picnic area and shelter with playground
