Went to this place based on reviews, the animals are mostly in make shift fenced in areas on big stone gravel. The grass around the area was overgrown & full of weeds. The animal cages were messy and they just look sad. The deer are in a herd at the gate & bite at the little bag of food you buy. The employee said just charge through them they are pregnant & hungry. We spent 10 minutes which included going to the bathroom. The bathroom which had no hot water, a broken lock, and no paper towels, Don’t waste your money. I’m giving two stars because at least the employee was nice.

Greatest thing ever. It was so fun to be followed by the animals and feeding them. The employee was probably the sweetest person I have ever met. I have read a lot of reviews about how the animals don’t follow you once the food is gone. They are animals. They aren’t meant to be at your beck and call the entire time you are there. I would 100% go back as I had the best time of my life.

Just got back from a week at Kelley's Island and on our way home we decided to stop in at Deer Park. As others have mentioned you could tell right away that the place was run down. As soon as we paid my 75 year old mother and 3 year old son had to use the restroom. The conditions were dplorable- no running water- filth EVEYWHERE!! Completely unsanitary. Anyways we went in to the park which was just a big fenced in area covered in dirt, gravel, and poop. It was fun to feed the deer that were walking around, however I have to question the quality of their living conditions. At one point we walked by a cage that had a few deer and a very large dead peacock which was very disturbing to my children- needless to say we left shortly after (35 dollars for a 25 minute trip). I would never return and have been concerend about the animals living there ever since I left. We will never return.
On a side note we went to Deer Park in Pymatuning PA last su,,er and thought it was wonbderful. Well kept, happy, helathy animals, clean restrooms, a train ride, and snack bar. Would definitely go back there again.

We thought this would be a fun place to take several kids to. Couldn't find any reviews for it so we thought the brochures looked nice so we would try it.
We should have known it was not good just driving into the parking lot. Very run down looking entrance and the bathrooms looked like outhouses outside the building. Told the kids they have to wait to use the bathroom until we got back home.
Paid for the admission inside the gift shop and bought our bag of 2.00 peanuts to feed the animals. Went outside into this big fenced in area and greeted by deer right away. The park consisted of a giant fenced in area with the animals in fenced in cages surrounding a muddy stone filled area. The animals just did not look happy and in some cases not healthy. I have been to many zoos and this was just so sad to see these animals being cooped up in the cages. They may have been treated fine, but it left you with a really bad feeling leaving this place. I have to admit my kids enjoyed feeding the animals and no one had any problems, but i would never go back there again. I can't believe this is how these animals should live the rest of their lives like that. Maybe someone from peta should check this place out.
For something that has been in business for 50 years, i believe it looks like exactly like it did that long ago for it was very crude and unattractive. Save your money and go to a real zoo.

Getting to feed the deer was so incredible and fun. They followed us the entire time and even allowed us to pet them and seemed to enjoy being petted. Most of the animals appeared to be healthy.
My concern came in when we were walking around and looking at the animals in the fenced area. One there was little to no grass in those areas- I have goats and an area with some type of goats, along the right side, towards the back, near the llamas, raised concern to the point my kids were even a bit upset. In this area one or more of the animals had the poos... really bad, it was covering the ground and these goats looked very thin! One was a baby and I am not even sure how it was still alive, we could see its bones and it had missing hair my kids kept trying to get me to pry open the fence and bring the baby home to our barn. I think maybe they need wormed, some electrolytes for goats and hopefully that would solve the problem.
The mountain goats were in a small area and also looked kind of thin.
In the far left corner was a bull who we watched literally ram his head and get his horns caught in the fencing. He bent the gate.
I know this park expressed on signs that the cost of the animals and food has taken a toll on them financially and they had a jar for donations. I saw a sign about new babies born, which is great but vetting the deer to keep the mating and breeding down would in turn save on costs and hopefully allow them to continue.
I hope they are able to find away to continue but PLEASE be sure to keep an eye on all the animals, the upkeep of their pens and their health so as to not distress visitors and kids.

I disagree with the last post. I did not go to the restroom but would not expect it to be the Ritz way out in the country! The building was older but what matters is how the animals look. Their coats were shiny, they were friendly, and all were well fed and they werent having to walk around in poop. All the holding pens were nice size and clean. Honestly, I had a great time. We even went back in for more peanuts because it was such a good time feeding the MANY varieties of animals. With all the animals there one would expect a lot of bugs and a bad smell but that was not the case here. I truly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to everyone.

We had marked this place for a stop during our vacation in Sandusky, OH. We made it today and it was everything we thought it would be and more. A family run affair: a petting zoo + fishing in a massive stocked pond (separate transactions). This facility has been in the family for 58 years... and still family run. The feed is inexpensive to buy, and a variety of it is available. The park is well kept and the animals appeared to be clean and healthy. There are about 200 head of goats, deer, sheep, mountain sheep, llamas, etc. All very well behaved. The animals are kept in large pens on the perimeter of the property and the operator lets out just enough to recognize the number of visitors. Had a great time feeding the animals. Expect to spend an hour. Nice souvenirs in the gift shop.
Go. You won't be disappointed.

Hundreds of deer, some penned, some running about, very blantant about getting to that bag of feed you are carrying around. Well, contained park. Peacocks. A fishing pond outside the enclosure. An hour or so does it.

Lagoon Deer Park is a good place for families to visit. They animal encounters are the best. You can feed the animals as well as get up close to a lot of different animals you normally wouldn't.
The people there are very friendly. Well worth a visit there.

My two year old son got to play with baby goats and was laughing hysterically. They chased him around and he loved to pet the deer

There was a sign there that said you need your own gear and bait but no fishing license required.

We went a couple of years back, I believe 2014 to be exact. No lagoon as part of the park attraction. When was this part of the park? They let us in to an area where all the deer were and then that was it. All the other animals were there too of course. Thanks for answering my question.

The lagoon is in the front of the establishment, you can fish in it and feed the fish. You pass by it on the dirt road you drive in on.
