Virtual Tour of the Lake Erie Shoreline via Coastal Trail

Take a tour of the Lake Erie Shoreline, Via the Coastal Trail, and see and learn about the towns that dot the Ohio Coast. This tour is an expansion of our very popular Cleveland Lakefront tour, as you will experience the majority of what that Cleveland Tour offers, along with the expanded Lake Erie Shoreline tour which takes you from the Eastern ohio border to Toledo. In this tour, You will discover the rich history of the Various towns along the lake erie shoreline. We will touch upon lighthouses, pop culture, the indigenous peoples of the area, the underground railroad, to the modern era. you will also get a good overview of what to do at each location, what you will see, where are the best spots to eat, to stay for the night, and the most interesting and scenic way to travel from town to town. This is a very comprehensive tour, that is in a documentary movie format which you can view at home or use as a guide as you travel from place to place.

We were aiming to hike the trails in the parks around the island and drove by the entrance 3 times before finding it; the island map isn't accurate. Ask someone how to get there or drive slowly and keep your eyes peeled; it's easy to miss. There is a small place to park a few golf carts by the park entrance for free but no place to park a car. It's an easy, flat, 1 mile loop in a heavily wooded area whose paths are mulched to 1 person wide. In September, no flowers were blooming but a few of the trees are clearly labeled. No bugs either in September! Appears a few ice houses are stored either in the park or in the same woods adjoining the park; not the nicest view.

If you're in the mood for a pleasant, quiet walk through the woods, you'll enjoy the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail. You'll spend about 30 minutes walking on a woodchip, winding path through a small, woodsy area. We took the trail in July on a pleasant, windy day and did not encounter too many mosquitoes. Due to the time of year, we also did not encounter many wildflowers. We did see some plants that had 3 leaves, and although I'm no expert on identifying poison ivy, I steered well clear and navigated the trail without taking home any rashes as souvenirs. Pleasant and quiet - YES! Filled with lots of interesting things to see - not so much.

Nice little preserve. Many birds and butterflies. At least 3 spots where one can find a small private beach area and sit quietly by the water. It appears to be a work in progress, they are still mulching the trail.
