It is great to see our natural Ohio and Lake Erie resources showcased by OSU students. Free fishing for youngsters, and feed the invasive gobies to the resident Great Blue Heron. We saw gar right off the dock and the facility is great for the whole family.

My husband and I went here in September during Ohio states open house and went to Gibraltar Island, free. This was an awesome experience that only happens once a year. The staff was very friendly and I would recommend going there again.

Learn about some of fish and marine life in Lake Erie as well as the water conditions. Anyone can fish for free, no license required, from their dock and they have OSU, The Ohio State University marine environmental students helping and answering your questions. The student we talked with knew so much about the area and available programs there on... More

We visited on a Wednesday in the middle of June so my daughter could do some fishing in Lake Erie. She was really looking forward to this portion of our vacation. When we arrived in the late morning, the entire place was closed. They even listed the operating hours, and they should have been open according to their own schedule.... More

Staff knows a lot about the history of fish breeding and release, which is not done here anymore. There are species there to see and it is very interesting.

Always stop by and nice to see how they continue to add and grow to their exhibits. It is one of the very few things to do on the island that are FREE - worth a stop - takes around 20 minutes.

Took the kids to the Bay for a day trip. We heard they had free fishing for the kids. When we arrived we enjoyed walking thru the center learning about the fish in the Lake. We also learned about the invasive fish that are being found in the lake. The kids grabbed a pole, they even baited it for them!... More

Great stop for families of all ages! I bring my grandsons here every time they come to PIB. They love to fish free while I get to sit on pier bench and enjoy all the fun everyone is having! The OSU staff will help with hooking your worm and showing the kids how to fish(catch and release). They also explain... More

My kids enjoyed learning about native vs. invasive fish, as well as seeing them live. Staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. The man working caught a Gar fish and catfish with bare hands from tank to show my kids - even I was impressed. Free fishing provided for kids too!
