Whew hooo. Whole boat limited out in 4 hours. Theprice has increased due to decrease # of passengers due to covid. Our first mate Rob was great. He gave us some fishing tips that was greatly appreciated. Andy our captain also gave suggestions. We chartered last year with company over the bridge. We will definetly be sticking with sassy sals from here on out.

If you want to go walleye fishing without paying the high price of a private charter, Sassy Sal’s “walk on” head boat is a fun affordable option. We joined them on a beautiful August afternoon and while we had most of our own gear, they supplied us with the specific tackle and bait we would need before we headed out to catch walleye. We enjoyed a nice cruise to the fishing area where we caught a number of keeper walleye and a few catfish as well. The captain and first mate were friendly, helpful and attentive; as soon as they heard “fish on”, one of them was there, with a net, to help land the catch. Overall a very good experience and I plan to join them again.

We had a nice time on the Sassy Sal. Despite the confusing check-in process, (largely because we don’t fish a lot and were unclear as to equipment needed), we managed to have fun. The first mate provided tips about placement of our lines, and we loved catching 13 perch, which many would think isn’t enough, but it’s plenty for tonight’s dinner after returning home to Pittsburgh. This is our second trip to the area and went with Sassy Sal both times, the first for Walleye a few years ago. We found the other customers to be helpful and pleasant, and it’s enjoyable to spend time in such a relaxing way. I like that they post fishing status updates on Facebook, and will return in the future. We would have given a 5th star, but the wait time for fish cleaning was 2.5 hours, and thought that was excessive. I’m glad we were staying the night in the area, because that wouldn’t have been good if we had to leave directly after fishing. All in all, a great day.
