Walked the museum and had fun. Great place for kids. Watched the glass blowing demo and amazed. Was a bit on the hot side and don't envy the man doing the work. WOW.

The Works provides lots of educational opportunities that are unique and interesting. The museum is always updating and adding upgrades. There is a Sci-Dome, outdoor train car, glass blowing studio, a history floor with local history, a mastodon skeleton, a plane, and a history walk through time, a little tots area, and other science related activities.

For a few years, we were members and it is worth a membership. During the years we had it, we went weekly for their curious kids activities. We've had a birthday party there which was great because we had a mixed group of ages (2-10) and everyone was excited to explore the museum.

In the summers, they have free outdoor concerts with free ice cream and lots of science activities for the kids. Many times we'd bring a picnic lunch while listening to some really nice bands.

Our most recent trip was to do a glass blowing class. Tickets can be purchased online and are not much more than a piece would cost just purchased in the gift shop. I'd recommend watching glass blowing on a day before your class, so you are somewhat familiar with the process. It makes it easier to be ready for your class and to know what is expected.

The museum also houses an art gallery that is free to walk through. They also have different events throughout the year for adults and kids.

Lots of opportunities. We like going on weekdays. The weekends get quite busy. Go early because parking is somewhat limited with area businesses reserving quite a bit of it.

Definitely a small museum but for its size there is a lot to see and do. My 4 year old really enjoyed it especially the kids area and the train car. She could played in the kids area for over 3 hours if we weren’t short on time. I personally enjoyed the historical portion of Newark on the second floor.
A definite must if you are in the area.

Very informative especially geared towards children. Adults will learn as well, provides some insight to the old days of licking county. If you live close or are visiting it’s worth the trip, we went through it in about 2-3 hrs. Also good food at the deli opposite of the museum, there is a walkway between the two.

Very enjoyable for kids and adults. Love the older stuff upstairs that used to be at COSI. Have not seen the new SciDome, but hear it's excellent. Across the courtyard is a deli and local art and restrooms.

Restrooms for handicap in the ladies restroom at the deli side have been down for several months. Very frustrating when you have a handicap child.

As a teacher have had many field trips here. The students love it, and I do too. Since social studies is one of my favorite subjects, the history of Newark that you find here is fascinating. Also awesome to complete a project here, such as glass blowing.

Art and cultural exhibits, a wonderful, interesting museum of the history of Licking Country, an art glass blowing shop in-house, a hands-on, interactive tech/science area for the kids, and the addition of the new planetarium make The Works a must see whether you live in the community or are here for a visit. Don't miss this gem!!

Kids would love this place if they love science. It had all sorts of things that the kids could do. Be sure to tour the caboose.

My youngest grandson had been to the Works on a second grade field trip and really wanted to return. We went last week and took his older brother and their great grandmother. It is smaller than I anticipated. It is fun with lots of hands on activities. It does not take long to do everything there is to do. I was disappointed with the p,anetarium show because I fants and toddlers cried and made noise during the show, making it very difficult to hear. I recommend an age limit if 6 and up for the planetarium.it is reasonably priced.
