My sister had a birthday party this past weekend for her daughter. Not only was she way over charged but the coco key website advertises things such as a complementary photo which they no longer do. We stood around for a long time in the lobby waiting for a bunch of teenagers to try and figure out how to ring her up. This should have already been done and waiting for us while we were in the party room. Instead we stood around for nearly half an hour with a bunch of anxious children in their bathing suits in the LOBBY! The staff were rude to my sister and very unprofessional mocking her and laughing out loud as she entered the water park! I will not be recommending Coco Key to any of my friends or family in the future.

I have taken my family there on two occasions. The first time we had fun but the food was horrible , service horrible, and too crowded to enjoy much. There was a roach or water bug dead in arcade floor, which made it look even more gross and should have proven the need to vacuum. The teens working here do not take the job serious, which lacks professionalism when so many young children are playing in water. I have heard management of the property has gone downhill even more over the last year. We drove back up, two hours away, for lack of local activities. Big mistake. When we arrived a few weeks ago, we were informed that there had been an accident and the facility was shut down for the day. So we were stuck two hours away from home with our two kids and their friend. No hospitality, no offering of a rain check, and no explanation of events that occurred. A patron had to explain the accident that took place. The hotel which the water park operates in would not offer any type of info or resolution. Very rude staff, unclean faculty, crowded, and honestly not worth the money. Go to a local public pool or a state park. Just shear clear of this shady place. I'm a very liberal and chill person. I rarely ever complain, but this place needs new management in such a bad way. Only plus side, there was a bar located in the water park. Sad but true.

I visited Coco Key with my spouse and kids during their spring break. We were there about three years ago, and I was surprised at how the place had declined.
First, the good-it was far less crowded on the day we visited than it was on our previous visit. So, that was nice.
The not so good... The pool with the basketball hoops was a murky green color, which my hubby said was likely from over-chlorination. The guards at the basketball pool were actually trying to shoot baskets from their posts outside the pool and hit two kids in the pool in the face on two separate occasions. The dad of the second kid got a manager, who put a stop to their antics. All of the equipment looked old and in need of replacement. The whole pool area looked like it needed re-painted. The locker room was dirty. The furniture in the lobby area also looked old and run down.
My kids had a good time, but we will probably not return unless there are some major improvements.

We drove an hour to this dump only to be greeted by a crying mom who stated to turn around as the water park was closed for equipment failure. She drove over 2 hours with 8 kids, only to be informed the park was closed (the park took no efforts to post this on their website, but it was posted on Facebook the evening before). She had no money and the resort refused a refund. We were informed by the maintenance guy to speak with the check-in desk and possibly they could help us (boy was he wrong)!
I am not upset with management for equipment failure (they can't control that), but they can control how they manage such an unforeseen dilemma. Lying and telling us this was a last minute malfunction was Strike #1 (maintenance informed us the part broke Sunday before our visit, not hours before as management stated). Telling a family there for a birthday party, a mother that drove over 3 hours with 8 kids, and my family that we were essentially on our own and would have to travel back on another day, was not the way to handle the situation and Strike #2. The mom from out of town spent all of her money on this trip and had no additional funds to do anything else. A refund was the least they could have done.
I myself do not plan on making this trip and giving them the option for Strike #3. If you are going to make an attempt- first and make sure they are still open (or an equipment malfunction has not occurred).

disaster if you try to book a party! had to call the party coordinator 3 days prior to my event to try to pay my deposit only for them not to be there. was assured a call back but NOPE, not a call back, had to call LATE Friday and talk to a manager and she finally got the coordinator "Chrissy" to call me back the DAY BEFORE MY PARTY which consisted of 16 kids, and 8 adults.
after the time in the party room we stood in the lobby for a half hour in our swim suits while the girls at the desk tried to figure out how to ring up our party! The party coordinator wasn't there (called off sick) so nobody else knew how to do anything. they had to call her on her personal cell phone to be walked through the process! after being frustrated with a room full of anxious children in swim suits for a half hour I asked if we would be compensated for the problems leading up to that moment. big mistake as that lead into an argument and everything I said I had an issue with I was told "its been taken care of now". I paid the total of $408 I was told included the $100 deposit I had paid two days prior. When I mentioned that the whole ordeal was very unprofessional and I was displeased, a man came from around the corner and introduced himself as "Larry, the General Manager". He expressed he heard the entire conversation and asked what we were "unhappy" about. I took him through my week of not having contact with anyone up until the half hour they cut us from our swim time for the party. I was being mocked by his attitude and his comments, being asked why I was upset that I had to wait a "few moments" for them to ring me up! I reminded him we had a large party of children in swim suits who were anxious in his lobby and felt that as a business they should have more than ONE person who can handle a party event in cases such as the one we were facing where the party coordinator was not at work the day of our event! After arguing my point and still being mocked I announced I was done trying to explain myself and headed toward the doors to the water park. before the door closed the entire staff that had been behind the desk all burst out in laughter as if it was a joke! I was disgusted and shocked by the level of professionalism of the staff! I checked my account via my cell phone to find they had over charged me by $153 dollars! I had 4 transactions pending from their resort! ($100, $350, $50 and $53) so I had to go BACK out to the desk and showed them my online banking and the transactions. Had to wait another 15 minutes while she got back on the phone with someone to try to figure out the problem. I was then told they had no idea why that happened and that I would have to make a copy of my bank statement and a copy of my receipt showing my total was only $408 and email it to the manager who would then send it to the accounting department to be looked at and handled! WHAT A NIGHTMARE! NEVER AGAIN!
These people offered NO compensation for the mess they put me in NOR did they even APOLOGIZE for the mess!

It's not worth jeopardizing the health and safety of your children! I took my 9-year-old granddaughter to CoCo Keys in Newark, Ohio a few days ago and found this indoor "water resort" so far beyond horrendous that it's unspeakable! At first, my granddaughter was having a good time in the murky pool, so when she emerged from the water with clumps of stray hair covering her shoulders like seaweed I didn't say anything. I even turned a blind eye to the lifeguards wearing street clothes. Some were even wearing tennis shoes (but of course not the lifeguard sporting a foot brace.) The place was filthy and some of the attractions were broken. When I noticed a bloody bandage discarded on the side of the pool, I was ready to leave - so imagine my relief when my granddaughter was also ready to go. She had caught her foot in a hole at the bottom of the pool, and the incident scared her. I checked the pool, and sure enough there was a gaping hole at the bottom. We reported the incident to the assistant manager. He said the hole once accommodated a lily pad feature. When the lily pad was removed, the hole remained - uncovered. He assured me with a cocky smile that "the Department of Agriculture had recently inspected the pool and said it was safe." I'm not sure what the Department of Agriculture has to do with pool safety. However, I'm sure that there were enough things growing in and around the water park to warrant their involvement. I asked to speak to the manager but was informed that he was busy tending to a child who was wounded in the lazy river. This is the first time I've written a review, good or bad, but I believe it's important to warn others about the hazards that come with a daily pass at this "resort."

First there lockers are 12.oo! Second was way over crouded. Third the bathrooms let me just say GROSS! As soon as we were changed ready to get in the water me and my son climb up where the slides are, they have a big bucket that dumps water and it has so much force it knocked my son into a medal squart gun and cut his forehead open and all they did was give me a bandaid said you put it on him so we don't have to fill out paperwork! Then alittle later sommeone elses child small starrted to climb up a slide, life gard repeatedly blew her whistle at the child didnt even say no climbing, like a child that small was going to know why she was repeatedly blowing her whistle! Me and my family decide lets get some food, ordered pizza and slushi's. They forgot to cut our pizza so I had to go back wait in line again for my pizza to be cut. The slushy if you could call it that was very watered down. So finding a place to sit and eat was about impossible because people claim seats and put there stuff all over them so they can play and still have seats but finally we found some seats. I climbed in my seat and omg something scraped the back of one of my legs! The chair had staples exposed. By this point I was hotter than pancakes and ready to leave! I will never return to coco keys! I feel the owe my money back but staff you know says well theres nothing we can do!

I left a review for this park previously, when we stayed in Feb. 2012 (see my review for Cherry Lodge which is the hotel attached to this water park). I find it odd that the review is gone. Anyway it's a horribly unsafe dump. You seldom see a Tripadvisor "Terrible" rating so consistently as you do here. I don't mean to disrespect the reviewers that enjoyed themselves but any positive comments are far outweighed by the other reviewers dreadful & unsafe experiences. Interesting that one of my major concerns about the overwhelming smell of chlorine (keep in mind I spent most of my life in Florida with pools year round. I am very familiar with pool chlorine smell) was noted by several others. I'm a nurse & I'm telling you the chlorine is dangerously high no matter what they may tell you. We're talking scarily so and enough to cause significant respiratory distress for otherwise healthy people.

I was very excited to have found a deal on Orbitz.com. No where did the deal say that the water park was not included. So when we checked in it was very much a surprise that I had to pay twice as much for the room with the water passes. The lady at check in was not friendly or apologetic, and actually lead me and my family to believe that it happens often and I needed to contact orbitz.com for the mislead and advised me this was a government priced room. What does that have to do with the advertisement saying Cherry Valley Lodge and Co Co Key water resort. However that is their business connection and an issue with public relations. In the long run at least my boys had fun at a much more expensive price, not that I could tell them no after we took the time to pack and drove there. Ifeel like I stayed at walmart with nordstrom prices. Next time we will just come for a water park day pass. The room was not clean and the coffee pot was dusty.

Dear Wendy,
I am sorry to hear you feel misled by the pricing. Our hotel does have a restaurant, bar, day spa, and waterpark. Each of these facilities are priced in addition to the cost of the room. I am glad you were able to take advantage of our lowest available room rate (government rate). Hotel guests also are eligible for reduced price day passes in CoCo Key.but disappointed you felt that it was still too high. I believe that you will find our prices very competitive and I appreciate you taking the time to write your review.

Hello I was wondering how much will the price be for 6 children and 3 adults?
How fun would it be for adults without kids?

It's a very romantic lodge. The setting and grounds are beautiful. I would consider Cherry Valley for a romantic getaway but I would spend my time in the pool and the hot tub dedicated to the hotel versus the waterpark.
While the waterpark is fun, it's not for thrill seekers.

Ok I have a question., if they open at 11am on Saturday but you can't check in till 4pm why is that? I was going to take my daughter for her birthday on a Saturday and stay over night.. But if she isn't going to get to swim till 4 and they close at 9 I'm not going to do that, I'll just get a day pass and book a hotel down the road! Is that correct about check in
