Great piece of history. Enjoy, as it is disappearing quickly. Takes you on a trip back in time, reflect and enjoy the time with family and friends. Take a hike and look around at what is there.

Stopped to see the Hope furnace and learn more about iron ore and all that it entails. Decided to do a little hiking on the trail near the furnace. What a beautiful piece of Ohio. Walked along the lake and found some nice rock overhangs....More

Hope Iron Furnace looks sort of like a backyard fireplace or chimneya on steroids. It is amazing to think that this was only part of a large industrial complex that produced iron here more than a century and a half ago. It also seems like...More

Stopped here bc we have seen it several times driving by. Took lots of pictures and read some of the signage. It is an interesting piece of history in the State of Ohio. Must see stop if you are interested in the history of ironworks.

We always check out the furnace when visiting Lake Hope. It is so amazing to see this piece of history still standing tall. To think that all the area woods were gone to fuel this these furnaces is staggering.

This is actually a really cool place to visit. The story behind the iron visit is truly amazing. If you go during the day there are some walking trails you can go on as well.

I don't find the particular Furnace as that interesting but the hiking that starts from that point is great. There's two loops one south of the road and the continuation of it north. A great hike and/or overnight camping trip for a weekend, especially in...More
