We are always looking for Indian mounds. This is very unique - a burial mound in a cemetery in Marietta. Many historical figures are buried in the cemetery. Th mound is in the middle with steps to the top.
The founders of Marietta preserved the Great Mound from destruction by establishing the city cemetery around it on 1801. The cemetery has the highest number of burials of American Revolutionary War officers in the country.
Some of the oldest gravesites in Marietta reside here, as well as the ancient burial mound. There are a few signs around to help you learn more about the area and how to locate some of the prominent graves.
