About
The inspiration of opening a winery originated from the love of fine wines and the charming local wineries of the Grand River Valley. Opening a winery evolved into more than just an idea when two brothers were hunting in Idaho. While sampling some wines from California, it became clear that Northeast Ohio also has the potential to offer great wines. From here the idea came to life when the search began for the perfect place to make Laurentia a home. Things materialized as we acquired land for our vines and eventually this spot to build our winery. Plantings commenced in 2011 and in the following years while we broke ground for our production building and beautiful winery in 2013. It has been a long, exciting process, but we are completely rewarded with the end result and welcome you to share our joy

Ok, let me start by saying I am from California, maybe a little picky and have a different expectation of wine.....

Laurentia was recommended to us as the best winery in the area. We liked the scenic drive and the winery was very pretty to pull up to. They are easy to find and have plenty of parking. We went inside and they had their social distancing signs up but to be honest they were confusing. One told you to wait to be helped but then another said to stand in another spot so if you are here for the first time ever it's a little confusing on what to do/where to go. We waited a while and eventually someone came and "checked us in" and told us where to go next. Then we waited to be helped and once we eventually received service the lady helping us was very nice and knowledgeable about the wines. They were not offering tastings so we got a glass of Chardonnay and a glass of Gewurztraminer. Both were average at best. We sat on the patio and the view of the vineyard was enjoyable.

We were looking for a winery where we could have lunch, and this met our requirements perfectly. It’s a couple of miles south off the Highway, and tucked away down a lane behind trees. They’re not doing tasting at the moment. (Unclear if that’s a Covid thing or permanent.)

The restaurant seating process was a little unusual. (Perhaps also a Covid thing.) You check in with a hostess who assigns you a table number. They you get in line to order your food and wine. The wine is poured there and you take it to your assigned seating. Food is delivered to your table a little later.

There are several dining areas, including some outside among the vines. We opted for the deck, which is a large space that can be enclosed if the weather gets bad. This had great views over the vines.

The food itself was excellent, even if it did take a while to come out. (I think they’re just very busy, and perhaps short-staffed.) Flatbreads seem a specialty and I’d say that’s what 90% of people were enjoying. The wine was, as you’d expect, very good.

Bottom line: a beautiful, relaxing place for a leisurely lunch.

This is a gorgeous winery at the west end of the Grand River Valley wine area. It was our second visit - the first time they were not offering tastings due to COVID so we were excited to have the opportunity to try their wines. This winery is one of those that lets you select wines to taste but sends you on your own to a table without a wine sommelier with whom to discuss the wines. That would be the only negative to our experience. We tried eight different wines and they were all of good quality. Our favorites were the Chardonnay and the Gewurztraminer. We ordered appetizers to accompany the wine and they were both excellent. The baked Brie was outstanding. This is a first class winery and, with the addition of a more customer-friendly approach, would be equal to the best in the area.

In the area to visit the local wineries, we thought we would stop for a tasting and maybe something to eat. The young lady at the host station was not friendly. No wine tasting, you can make a reservation for dinner and order wine with dinner. We decided to have dinner somewhere else.

My friend and I stopped here as a stop out of eight wineries and to be honest, we were underwhelmed. The tasting process was confusing because we weren’t served at the large bar, but rather, by the cash register. We sampled our white wines and ended up not buying anything. The building was beautiful and it looked like a lot of people were enjoying their food, but the wine was not for our palettes!

This is a beautiful winery in the Geneva Ohio wine valley area. Our disappointment was that they currently do not offer wine tastings. The restaurant was packed on a late Sunday afternoon. We bought a couple of glasses and enjoyed them on their patio. The low rating reflects our inability to have a proper tasting of their wine offerings. We will try again at another time if they change their policy and re-rate them at that time.

Visited here last weekend. The building here is simply awesome, However, the knowing we wanted a tasting, we were pointed to a register to order and pay, then assigned a table. That all seemed COLD and non-accomodating. Later we ventured downstairs to find out that they have a tasting room and cellar. Why didn't anyone say that was an option when we came in? I felt slighted. Did not feel welcome here. Lastly-- seems odd that they only had 2 red wines to taste. They seemed to have a dozen whites.

We have visited Laurentia many times and enjoyed their wines and food, but we had a poor experience today. The staff was not prepared and simply refused to take food orders because they were overwhelmed. The kitchen shut down for an hour just because they needed to catch up on orders. When trying to talk with the staff, they did not seem sympathetic. Today, Laurentia did not stand up to the smaller wineries in the region that offered a more personalized experience.

Had been to the Holden Aboretum all afternoon and decided to stop here for a light dinner and some wine. At this time they are not doing wine tasting due to Covid, however the bartender did a wonderful job of explaining their different wines. She started off by telling us most of their wines are dry wines. Then proceeded to explain their listing. We chose a bottle that matched our liking and were pleased. We went with their flatbread offerings which were sufficient for a light dinner. The menu does not offer any sandwich types of food. We did choose to have desert, would recommend the peach/blackberry crisp. The seating was perfect for social distancing as we sat out on the patio. There is inside seating but because the weather was exceptional we opted for the outside patio. Gorgeous surroundings very peaceful and quiet. Large pond with ducks and geese right in front of you. The staff was both helpful and friendly.

We went here for lunch and like other people have said they do not offer tasting's. In addition, you have to order your food and drinks before they assign you a table. The drinks you need to take to the table, but they do bring you your food. So, they are not staff friendly.

The outdoor seating area is very pretty with all the landscaping and pond. There food was also very good. We did order quiet a few different items to share with everyone. I really liked the chicken Florentino stuffed portobello. We also got the combo board, tuna steak salad, pepperoni Flatbread, shrimp picatta, and baked brie.
