I am a 16-17 handicapper and play this course several times a year. It is almost always in very good condition; has some quite challenging holes; and plays much longer that the 5400 yd. white tees would suggest.
Certainly worth trying if you are in the area.
The only negatives I have are: they have a strange rule about not allowing cart covers or strap-on windows, which keeps me away in cold weather--and their coffee is terrible! This, however, is more than compensated for by the beautiful layout of several holes. I would rate the course between average and above average.

This course is located near Logan in the beautiful rolling hills of SE Ohio. It was formerly known as Brass Ring, but now has new ownership and a new name. In the several years prior to the present change of ownership, the course conditions had declined to the point where it was not a pleasure to play. In addition, the greens fees had risen to a level not commensurate with the quality. With new ownership, the conditions have improved significantly, especially the greens. The Jack Kidwell design is not overly long (under 6000 yards), but the hills, especially on the back nine, compensate for that. Because of the terrain there are a couple of quirky holes (the short par four #5, for example), and in general imaginative shot-making is required.
The clubhouse includes a nice bar and a restaurant. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

We were the only diners in the restaurant one evening. Our service was excellent and the table overlooking the golf course was nice. We had the loaded fries for an appetizer. Our party also ordered the potato skins, the strawberry salad, chicken Alfredo, and hot wings. Prices were reasonable and the food ranged from better than average to really, really good. This is not a 5 star resort, but it was a good value in a nice place. We would return!

Played golf course 10 years ago with my wife for our 5 year anniversary and we came back to the Hocking Hills area because we had a great time. 10 years ago I would have rated this course Very Good, but what 10 years can do to a course when you don't take care of it. WOW! Driving into the course the rough was filled with clover and it didn't look like it had been mowed in 2 weeks. What made it worse is when I went in to pay for green fees he announces to me that it would $80 for two people!!!! Middle of the week teeing off at 1:45. I gave him the are you serious look? His response back to me "I know I agree with you". Two of the holes are completely unfair because of over grown trees covering the approach shot to the green and tee box. Greens are the only saving grace to this course. You have alot of work to do to get that course back to what is was and in the mean time lower your prices to about $28 because the course is not worth your current $40 charge!

I recently had my first visit to this restaurant. I immediately liked the view and atmosphere of the restaurant. The choices on the menu looked great and I had hoped I had found a good local restaurant for my husband and I to have a nice dinner. I, however, will not be back. Our server was overwhelmed with tables and when he finally did get our drink order he was pushy and impatient. We got our drinks promptly, but it took 15 minutes for him to come back for our food order. In his defense, he was really busy especially for a weeknight, but that did not justify his demeanor. My salad came out first. I ordered mine without tomatoes, so my salad consisted of lettuce and cheese. Not a problem until you consider the fact that there was more cheese than lettuce! My entree of shrimp came next. The food was nicely presented and I received a good portion for the price. The grilled shrimp and the shrimp scampi were cooked well, but we're tasteless! The coconut shrimp was really good which surprised me because I am not a fried shrimp fan. For dessert I had chocolate lava cake that was wonderful. Overall, not worth a return visit!

The condition of the golf course gets worse every year. Several other golf courses in the area much nicer for a lot better rate. Food in the restaurant is good but pricey for what you get and the staff is always short handed. We eat out a handful of times per month and play golf several times a year and this is always the last place we think of even though we live only a mile away.

The course is a cool layout, with very steep up hill and down hill holes. I dont know how anyone could ever walk it. If you did you would need a mountain goat to carry your clubs. The fairways and tee boxes do not appear to be watered or cared for very well. It took physical exertion to get the tee into the ground in the tee box. Every tee shot broke the tee. On the pair 3's where you want the tee real short I could have used a hammer to get it there. Most fairways were compact dry dirt. Very hard. Greens appeared to be the only thing watered and they were real slow and most postage stamp size as they say. Staff was real nice, drinking water on the course was cold. Restaurant was closed (on Sundays). That was weird. Pro shop had snacks and drinks. Driving range was in same condition as tee boxes, you hit from hard dirt with a little grass and weeds. They only allow irons on range because its 200yds max.

My wife and I shared a great evening at the lodge. The service was awesome and a view of the golf course was right out the window. With the restaurant on the second level, you have views on three sides of the dining area. We went on a Friday night and the buffet was being served. Good selection to choose from. Will be back soon!!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch special and great drinks on the newly patio addition to this golf club. Under new ownership the Logan Golf Club is a very nice place for lunch and dinner ! The new owner is very friendly and seems dedicated to provide the best dining experience! The golf course is in great shape!
