North Pond State Nature Preserve is a simple nature hike on Kelley’s Island. It’s simple walking (some minor incline) and easy for kids. After a few minutes walk you can take a right at the recycled plastic boardwalk to a sandy beach on Lake Erie...More

If you need a place to enjoy a long walk/run and see the woods and lake, the North Pond is an excellent location. The paths are good and the docks over the pond make it easy to access the beach.

This was my boys' favorite part of the day! The hike was short. They saw snails, slugs, frogs, fish, and water snakes! They played on the beach and skipped rocks. They saw across to Canada. It was awesome!

We came across the boardwalk as we were exploring the beach. It was neat that it was accessible from both the beach and the road. However, there was not much information about the fact that the pond was aging and nearly filled in as a...More

Of the three trails on state park land on Kelleys Island this is the simplest one and the one with the least to see, although it provides a good look at the way the island used to look before it was logged in the 19th...More
