This guided tour takes you to all the best places in the Kelleys Island State Parks and Preserves. Starting at the Glacial Grooves explore the unique history of the Island from the Ice Age, and all the way to the Devonian Era. This interesting tour is an active hike and bike through the trails with brief stops to learn and rest. The two hour adventour includes The Alvar Preserve on the North Shore, pebble beach, and also East Quarry State Park.

There were a few souvenir shops and an older putt putt course. We had lunch at Caddy Shack. Food was good but wait was long. Looked like a fun place to hang out but one of the few on the island. Kelley’s Island didn’t seem to offer enough for a weekend visit. We did see the glacial grooves and Sandy Beach which was very buggy.

Arrive on Kelley Island to find all golf carts had been rented. Decided to wait around and were lucky enough to score an early return. Signed up for rental and was charged for a one hour rental even though we said we wanted it for 4 hours. We figured we would square up upon return. When we returned the cart, we were charged for 3 additional hours instead of being given the 4 hour rate. When we questioned it he refused to budge. On top of that the cart's steering was so bad you had to constantly over steer to keep cart on the road.

The putt putt is like everything else on the island. Overpriced, underwhelming and probably a bit of a tetanus hazard, but if you really want a challenging game, go to Put In Bay. The plutocratic owner makes her employees pay for their own ferry fares, which is disappointing.

I wanted to rent a golf cart but they only had only a handful to rent and the people in line before me rented the last one. Then the employees, a bunch of foreign kids and one mop-headed guy who was renting the carts kept loudly yelling at each other! Get a haircut, Dude! The only redeeming virtue was the ice cream which was delicious.

Run down and leaves a lot to be desired-if you were hoping for quaint and cute it's more like a weed-infested small town stop. Fine for the kids but nothing special.
