Nickel Plate Beach surprised us. The sand is very smooth and it is not over crouded. Parking is $5.00 and is not always collected depending on the weather.

Nickel Plate tends to have a lot of drift wood, which is nice. But with the break wall being close, you can also have a lot of rip tides that are dangerous when the water is choppy. Swim at your own risk...

why does nothern ohio even attempt to showcase a beach? nasty coarse, dark sand you can cut your foot open on if you miss stepping on garbage and cigarette butts. no facilities to speak of, foul lake erie water that you'd better not injest.

Parking fee on such a small beach... please city of Huron forget it! Water has a well-known under current which can be very scary. Be sure to watch the weather.

This is a nice place if you are looking for a large beach. The water is pretty nice, not the best but not the worst of the lake Erie beaches I have been to

Yes we have found Seaglass here. A lady we rented a cottage from in the neighborhood told us it's there. Darn, just white pieces though, nothing colorful. It's still fun to look for it.

We didn't pay anything at all, but it was a week day too. Maybe weekends are different.
