This is a nice beach, with regular amounts of trash left by those who do not clean after themselves. It was not crowded when we went (it was a weekday afternoon) and we sat near the shore. Our boys had a lot of fun and it was peaceful looking out over the water. There are volleyball courts set up, for... More

Nickel Plate Beach is a public beach tucked among all the private shore line in the Huron area. Parking costs five dollars per vehicle, which to me is not just a small amount considering that Ohio state parks and nature preserves are free. Also, on a busy weekend you will probably be parking on the grass and shoved in pretty... More

Beach was very dirty with trash left and cigarette butts every where. I would have thought that the city would take better care of a public beach.

This beach was recommended to us. We found shade along the tree line. We noticed 3 dead fish initially but after by those the beach and water was enjoyable. I was surprised by the number of people smoking in the lake and near children. We did not use the playground because it was too hot that day. The volleyball set... More

Great public beach on Lake Erie. This is a must stop if you are in Huron. The view was beautiful with the lighthouse visible. There were volleyball nets set up, the beach was clean, and the water was nice and cool on a hot day! Take plenty of sunblock and maybe pack a picnic lunch!

This is my first freshwater beach and I was amazed. It was very clean of litter and even had a playground for the little one. The water was nice and building a sand castle is always fun. I could have spent all day here.

One of the only public beaches in the Sandusky area. And this one is in Huron, Oh. It has a nice play area for children also.

Very nice area beach. Many of the old large trees were removed so shade is very limited. Otherwise, it's worth the trip. Parking fee in the summer. Lake advisories posted daily if necessary for high algae and waves, which is helpful. A playground and volleyball courts, too. Can get crowded some weekends, but usually pretty tame.

Nickel Plate Beach is a gem. This wide, sandy beach is a lovely place to spend a lazy afternoon. There is ample parking, picnic shelters, and beach volleyball nets. Unfortunately, the only rest rooms are port-o-pots that are only available in season.
