I've been wanting to visit the Werribee Open Zoo for a few years now and finally had the opportunity to go during a recent trip to Melbourne. It turned out to be a very cold and windy day and it made for a not-so-pleasant visit to the zoo. There are plenty of room for the animals and facilities for children... More

The safari is not quite Kenya or Tanzania or Sth Africa but beats just watching a selection of animals from the 4WD bus. It is not on 100s and 100s of acres but you get up close to most animals. The go r illas ate great although a tad far away for good reason but this is why the zoo... More

I love going to the zoo and it was such a fantastic experience. There was a bit of construction going on but nothing to get in the way. The prices are a little steep but we loved it.

We're local so may be a little bias, but love coming to Werribee Zoo and more often than not without the kids. It's a great walk, and just the right size for a short day trip. Melbourne Zoo can be a little overwhelming to do in a day. The free safari bus is fantastic and no matter how many times... More

Interesting zoo with a huge compound. The highlight of the zoo would definitely be the safari tour which is included in the standard admission fee. Not too difficult to get to the zoo by public transport from Melbourne city. However, do take note of the bus timings.

The Werribee open range zoo is a really nice local zoo to us. It's always clean, the animals always seem to be well cared for and our son loves going.

We did the Giraffe Encounter for a friend's birthday and it was fantastic. We got up close to the giraffes - magnificent animals with the most engaging faces. We got to feed them and feel their strength as they tugged on the branches. And their long tongues took the carrots and apples from our hands. We toured their night enclosure... More
