My wife and I drove here for a visit during our recent holiday in Phillip Island. We walked a few kilometers from here to Pinnacles and walked back to our car.
The wide and long sandy beach which was deserted at the time of our visit, is nice for walking.
The views are very scenic.

The colour of the sea is picture-perfect. The sand is squeaky clean. The water absolutely delicious, crystal clear, just the right temperature. It's heaven. We've had a 10/10 swim, watched a seal frolick in the waves right in front of us, all we need now is a little beach siesta, after all we are here for a holiday.
Not a hope in hell. Paradise suddenly feels more like a war zone.
Not one, not two, but six helicopters fly right along the beach in about 15 minutes. Sounds like a jack hammer on top of our heads. Sleep?
Unfortunately it is not our first encounter. There's no escaping this invasion as the helicopters fly right around the island, no beach is spared. Pity. The natural beauty of Phillip island is now being destroyed by these noisy, low-flying, inconsiderate, incongruous helicopters.
It's not good for holiday makers, but what about Phillip Island's famous and loved wildlife? Tourists can choose to holiday somewhere else, but the poor island animals have no escape. It's not fair. I wish the helicopters would fly away and leave the birds to fly at home in peace.

Drove to the Cape Woolamai Beach where there is a lookout boardwalk looking out over the beach. We went down the ramp onto the beach - very clean and vast. There were keen surfers in this cool weather surfing the quite large waves. It is just so memorising watching the surf. There weren't any shells but as you walked further down the beach there were black pebbles being swept up the sand. We came across some stairs known as Magiclands. We went just past them to the cliffs and rock pools. The rock pools were very interesting - conglomerate of the black pebbles together making up the rock pools with small sponges and reeds within. They had these very tiny black shells attached to the rock pools - fascinating. The cliffs had interesting rock formations. After clambering over the rock pools we headed back up to the Magiclands stairs. At the top we got a great view of the Pinnacles. The path continues onto the Pinnacles and other lookout points. We didn't go on further. We headed back down the stairs and back along the beach back to the car park. Even though it is winter now, we found it wasn't that cold down on the beach - it was more windy up at the car park. Watching the waves, particularly at the spot where the pebbles were rolling around in the surf at the water's edge is memorising and has a relaxing, calming effect. There is nothing like going for a walk along a beach,

I happen to travel to Phillips island for evening and reached the Woolmai beach at sunset and it is one of the best view of nature and its colors . It is a beautiful beach with a great sand and walkway .

I came across this walk in a book entitled "40 Great Walks of Australia". I'd seen the cape before and wondered about access; this time I knew and was on my way around 8 o'clock in the morning.
It starts at Woolamai Beach where the surf club is and heads along the sand towards the cape. Soon you will come across a set of steps. Here you can either ascend which puts you onto the recommended and easy walk or you can continue along the beach.
I chose the latter and reached the first lot of rocks and was greeted by a previously unseen pinnacle called the Colonnade. It protects a tiny beach just around the corner and from there you start serious rock hopping over granite boulders that have been torn from the cliffs and rounded by the weather.
I was unsure if you could get around the end of the cape but was surprised when I saw a navigable gap that opens up a hundred camera opportunities.
Through the gap you turn left and head up a narrow but worn track to the trail proper and then proceed to the highest point before following the inlet and going down to the beach where an old granite quarry used to be with some remnants still visible.
Then it's about 2 kms along the hard sand before Woolamai where, when you reach the beach road again, turn left and then it's about another kilometre back to the start.
Warning -- Don't try this route at high tide or in high seas, strictly low to mid tide only.

Stopped off at this beach as part of a tour to see the penguin parade. I was so overwhelmed by how beautiful it was! It was so picturesque and peaceful! I could walk along it all day!
The sea was too rough to swim but great for surfing and just paddling or walking along!
My favourite place in Australia so far!!!

Once again another person has been drowned at Woolamai. Please do not advise people that this is a swimming destination. Yes it’s scenic and yes it’s a fabulous beach walk but it’s not for the average swimmer. If you must swim, swim between the flags and only when the life savers are on duty. There are other safer places to take kids swimming!

Cape Woolamai is a good beach for swimming. The sand is good for making sand castles. Do not go in the water is the wind is up, it can be treacherous. The sheer-waters, also know as mutton-birds, nest nearby. The nest in tunnels, which also attract snakes. If your foot enters a tunnel, just move on, ther birds will dig it out.

It is indeed a beautiful beach. Unfortunately condition was too rough for a swim. The coast guards were around. Definitely picture perfect and stop by the kiosk for refreshing drinks.
