This is a top spot. The engineering that went into this is amazing. It took 2 years to put the road in from Tulla I believe. I watch the Hydro lake levels & wait for it to spill. Then drive 2 1/2 hours to have a look. At 800mm over the spill way it is still less than 1/2 what is going though the turbines. From the lookout you can see the different trees in the bush on the surrounding hills. Don't forget the Whale Back lookout around 10k towards Tulla,

I worked on this project 30 years ago and my wife and I were taken back by the sheer design and beautiful surroundings of this dam
For me it was like stepping back in time and I hope that everyone who gets to see it appreciates the work that went into it

Well worth the visit
Like most dams, this has spectacular views. The difference is this is on the main road
Worth stopping and spending the time to appreciate the structure

This dam was one of the last built. The view from the top of the dam (which is also the road - single lane with passing places) is quite good. I wouldn't make a big detour to see it, but if in the area it is worth a look.
We drove down the road to the power station, but there is nothing to see.
For us, the big plus was seeing a spotted tail quoll (heading for the hills, but in clear view for several seconds) near the turn-off to the lookout.

Wonderful view, there is a picnic table above the dam where you can sit and have something to eat, view is fantastic you get a uninterrupted view of the dam and surrounding area ,magnificent! There is also an area where you can park and camp during summer right at the waters edge.

A nice spot to stop and stretch the legs. Also a good spot for a picnic lunch or a snack. There are 3 main areas to visit. The most spectacular is the viewing area with picnic table on the western side of the wall. The second is the dam wall, generating plant and spill way. The third is the boat ramp and Camping area on the eastern shore. The engineering and beauty of this manmade landscape is easy to appreciate.

We decided to drive the circuit from Strahan back to Tullah via the Henty Dunes and then Reece Dam. The wall and power station provide a great stopping point to stretch your legs and admire the view. Plenty of safe vantage points and the road even goes down almost to the Power Station buildings below the dam wall itself.

Tasmania has a lot of dam dams haha the Reece Dam is another great one to see, just the engineering feat in itself is wonderful to admire. Nice view from the top!! VERTIGO!!! or drive down to the bottom to catch the mist on your face and there were people fishing successfully down there.

Great for BBQs with family. Drove to the bottom of the dam for some awesome trout fishing. When casting, cast across the river and retrieve. Also don't fish right In Front of the hydro power plant go down river a bit

We visited the dam on a recommendation from staff at Corinna and due to recent massive rains the spillway was overflowing... and it was amazing!! We've been to Niagara Falls and I have to say this was almost as spectacular!! The water was incredible. We just stood on bridge and watched it... it would seem at other times of year you can walk near. Well worth a stop if you're in the area. A small detour that was well worth it.
