Located just south of Swansea this convict built bridge is worth the stop. No one knows why the spikes where placed on the bridge but does it actually matter? 100m north is a lovely little beach to stop at too called Spiky beach.

Well worth getting of the road to visit this oddity. Why were the top stones placed vertically? Was there a practical reason or just whimsy ?

Stone bridge built in 1843 by convicts with stoned spikes. Good place to stretch your legs for a few minutes on route to/from Freycinet.

What a amazing structure that is man made many years ago and its still standing. This bridge is not in use any more but its amazing.

Unusual little bridge!! Worth the stop if only to stretch the legs - good information board so you get a bit of background - interesting!!

This little old bridge is no longer in use. But you can view it from the car park provided from the newer road. And a short walk is available. A nice ten minute break in the drive up the coast.

Unique bridge in the middle of no where! Can't miss it as you leave Swansea and head to Hobart. Very unusual, definitely stop for a pic! Read the history panel, very interesting.

Spikey Bridge is not well marked but certainly worth the stop. It takes all of 20 minutes. Handy hint. . . drive over the bridge, it's a bit of a goat trail but you'll still come back out on the highway.

Its worth a short stop if you are driving past. A very interesting and unusual construction with an equally interesting history.

We stopped here on our way out of Swansea. An interesting little stop off. The bridge is very interesting.
