The Convicts did it hard in making this bridge but the design left its mark, and still 200 years later we are stopping here. Be careful in the wet but worth the visit and reading its history - fully understandable!

We stopped in pouring rain to read the history of this bridge, which really made early Tasmania come alive to us. it is worth the detour & fun to drive over if safe to do so.

Interesting stop with a signboard with the history of this convict built bridge. Quirky and lets a little bit of Tassie history get into your brain.

It is a bridge built by convicts, as most things in Tasmania are. I guess it is interesting to see but maybe not an attraction. Depends on where you come from I guess! If from Europe it is just a bridge, if from Tas well...More

Convict build stone bridge. Interesting history. Just south of Swansea. Definitely worth a quick stop. Right beside the highway.

On what was part of the original east coast highway (track)! Spiky Bridge is still a mystery. No one seems to know why the stone 'fences' on its sides have a top row that's upright, and therefore spiky. It's a great little place to stop...More

Great place to stop, take a photo and read up about local convict history. No mention of Indigenous presence.

We were amazed that such a bridge was built by convicts back in the early 1800’s Well worth the drive out to have a look.

This is quite a different convict built bridge so well worth you stopping to have a look. It is just off the highway with safe off highway parking so no difficulty to access.

It is an interesting way of building something but somewhat boring. If it is on the way worth stopping for a few minutes but unless you have a very strong interest in historical trivia I would not go out of my way to visit it.
