This beach is just over a kilometre from the Orford bridge heading north.

Large car park, BBQ facilities, some covered tables and a grassed area as well as a very good combined changing room and toilet block.

Beach itself was sand, though not very wide, and there was a lot of weed about five metres in. There were no waves to think of during our visit which, I believe, is largely due to its sheltered position in a bay largely protected by Maria Island.

There’s good parking and toilets right next to the beach. Plus heaps of big oyster shells washed up on the shore which we skipped on the waves. Had trouble getting the family back into the car.

This was a nice spot to stop on our way up the East coast. Toilets right next to the car park. Nice to pull in from the main Rd and immediately have the view of the beach

Visited on Sunday 25th November, we took a break from driving and checked out the beach here which has plenty of free parking.

For a lot of international travellers, this is a toilet stop for guests that are en route to Freycinet. However, whilst you are there, you can't help noticing how calm, how clean the water is, and how tranquil the surrounding is as well. Across the water is Maria Island, a popular camping site for the locals who tend to go there on weekends or on long holidays. Talking about quaintness, this is as good as it gets. If you were one of those lucky few that get to stay in Tasmania for a protracted period of time, you need not be reminded that this is an understated gem. Then again, you wouldn't appreciate me writing this here as you would opt to keep this secret all for yourselves. Highly recommended.

Orford isn't festooned with innumerable tourist sites. However Raspins Beach, which is just out of the town, is a nice enough spot to sit and ponder the world from. Of course Australia is a nation much blessed with wonderful beaches so it takes a bit to impress most visitors but given not many people seem to spend time here you will at least have it mostly to yourself.

There is a free car park here and facilities. But what is probably the main reason for stopping here is to grab a happy snap of the view over the water. And don't be put off if the weather is poor, it means you may be able to snap an interesting shot of the view across the water with the nearby features almost totally obscured by drizzle creating an almost ghost-like effect.

Outside of that, this is just a small beach with few waves and in a part of the world most people won't want to swim in most of the year due to the cold weather.

White sandy beach with some seaweed lining the high tide mark. It stretches for nearly a kilometer around the bay, waves lapping, the reserve between it and the road behind. Some very informative signage installed and well maintained grassed area for picnics. BBQs are available and sheltered tables with the ablution block nearby. An area of ground was laid our for players of pétanque piste with signage outlining a brief history of the game and the rules of play.

Great beach, picnic tables and playground for the kids. When the waves hit the beach, it is one continuous wave which is so cool to watch and film.

Orford is a pretty small village with both river and beach. It has managed to keep it's small village community feel.
