What an amazing place set in the grounds of the old mental institution.
Vintage motor vehicles and rooms of antiques. A little overpriced. We were taken with the 1860's women's hospital which was offered for us to purchase 'at the right price'. Amazing history. Definitely worth a visit if only for the buildings themselves.

This shop wasn't as well advertised as other antique stores in town, but was one of the better ones.
Hidden in a beautiful old large building featuring lots of little 'rooms' where lots of treasures can be found.
For us, this was the best of the 5 antique shops we visited in New Norfolk.

I’m a Tasmanian but travel to New Norfolk every couple of years just to look at what’s available at this HUGE antique store. It holds so much stock you could stay for an hour going from room to room. It’s the best and varied shop that I’ve ever visited. It has not only antiques but new items too. If you’re over 50 you’ll find and reminisce about the reminders of our childhood. if you’re near New Norfolk you’ll love this shop and very likely find a treasure within your budget.

What a nasty abusive man. We've been there several times and bought items over the course of 10-12 years. Well..never again.
We went today and they did have an old rim lock that we were interested in priced at $65.00.
My partner went off to buy it and asked if there was a better price. $70 he was told. That's not better, that's more!
Its better for me!, was the reply.
Then he said he'd do $60 for cash (big deal, I thought...not).
We didn't have cash and wanted to use our eftpos. He huffed and puffed, but took the card and put it through. It was then I called out to my partner to get a receipt as we can claim it for our business as we're renovating.
It was then the whole thing turned to hell in a handbasket.
What could have been very simple thing of buying something, paying for it and getting a receipt turned into a slanging match of VERY poor attitude, and calling my partner a "pr**k" and telling him to "get f***ed". We will NEVER go back there and we'll certainly never recommend it to anyone unless, of course they enjoy being abused by that ar**hole nasty person, in which case, they'd thoroughly enjoy themselves. When we mentioned what had occurred to a couple of other antique dealers in the town, they were not only UNsurprised, they told us he has a reputation for that sort of attitude and they wonder why his poor wife continues to put up with him.
I wonder that too.
If he's trying to destroy his business, then he's doing a great job, because without customers, he HAS no business.

I was so looking forward to visiting this place. Unfortunately I found a dirty, unkempt hoard of stuff that is overpriced and no-one seems interested in selling. I love a good rummage but this felt soulless and lacked quality. With so few places to go trawling for decent antique/vintage items in Tassie - this place is doing little for New Norfolk or the trade. There are much better antique stores in New Norfolk than this one.

This venue is huge and, for those inclined, can provide a treasure hunting adventure. From cars, car parts, army wares, joinery and tools to clothing, fine china glassware, furniture and even buttons, this venue is huge with something for everyone.

We were very impressed firstly by the actual building which was part of the original mental institution and is now an Aladdin's cave of intrigue and curiosity. Room after room of antiques and vintage pieces packed in making for a wonderful couple of hours because this is how long it will take to look at everything - rooms of treasures ranging from shells, books, china, car parts even showcasing a wonderfully restored Corvette and old motor bikes - we loved it !

What can I say but “OH MY GOD” actually when visiting today I said OMG at least 50 times.
If you are into antiques and anything old this is a must to visit. Housed in a beautiful heritage building surrounded by beautiful trees & gardens.
The Cafe on adjacent site looked to be well supported (although we didn’t have time to indulge).
Overall the Willow Court site was sad to view in its derelict & run down state. The Tas Gov should be embarrassed in having obviously abandoned this historic site that actually predates Port Arthur. As I understand it sections of the property have been sold off to private sector.
Well worth a visit - even if it’s not quite the Port Arthur experience where millions of dollars have been spent as a Tourist destination. I so hope at some stage a restoration process starts.

There are so many rooms and areas here to look through I sometimes find it overwhelming. If you are prepared to spend the time hunting, there are probably some hidden gems. But there is certainly something there for everyone - you just have to be prepared to invest the time to find it.
