Fantastic walk (although not the easiest since there was snow in patches when we went), however very well worth it; don't forget to do the side walks to the different lakes.

We visited and walked up to the top of Hartz Peak with two teenagers. Luckily the weather was clear and from the top we got a stunning view in every direction. Very well marked track with duckboards etc to walk on. Some steep bits towards the top. Took us 5 hours total.

When we went weather was just right (so we were lucky) we went in the morning before the day got hot . A lot of it is duckboard and in parts you do have to climb of course, but we found it easy. Its more coming down you must remember if you have bad knees. Wonderful views , yes so... More

If you like fresh air, wilderness, to stand on a mountain, see across forests and waterways and walk between ancient plant structures - then this is National Park is well worth a visit. It can be accessed as a day trip from Hobart. There is some dirt road but well worth the drive. There is a visitor shelter and parking... More

We had intended to walk in the park but snow and cyclonic wind over the two days we were in the area prevented it. However, we drove up to the trackhead shelter in snow and took photos. It was beautiful and exciting but the ranger warned us off going out into it, so we drove back to the foot of... More

We hiked from the car park to ladies tarn and back, stopping at the lake on the way. Due to high winds we didnt head to the peak. No worries, it was just as amazing. I just love the alpine flora and there was still snow! We also hike to the waterfall and (?) lake dobson. It only took us... More

A gorgeous drive to Hartz Mountain with spectacular views and breath taking walks. Visited in August and discovered a snow surprise.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, and the weather was beautiful. We just went through the 3 shortest walks (Waratah lookout, falls and Osborne lake). Not exhausting, but really nice views, with some history to get to know. I think it would be worth a revisit in winter when the place crawls under snow!

Great Facilities with good boardwalks over the marshy sections, great view from the top and its well signed to the the top. You need to have some bush walking experience and it was really fun as there was heaps of snow around
