- Pajamas177 contributionsBreathtaking view with a bit of a difficult hikeWent on a saturday 4-5pm. View was already amazing before hiking. Walked/climbed all the way to the falls area (walking down is slippery and coming up was a killer) but the view was so worth it. Managed to catch a rainbow at the falls as well. Camped that the midpoint lookout for the sunset. It was quiet with few people. Will definitely come back after training my body and to do the stargazingVisited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten November 18, 2023
- Rochelle FRandolph, New Jersey1,162 contributionsNice stop off highway with outstanding viewsDrove from Sydney and stopped at this area, 5 minutes off the highway. You park and walk 1 minute to jamison lookout-wonderful vista. If you continue, there are various trails or another lookout - wentworth falls where you can see part of the waterfalls. Very beautiful and easy walk.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 17, 2024
- Shane TSydney, Australia1,178 contributionsNice walkFamily one day trip and this was our second stop. Nice walk and views. Various distant walks and we chose the Fletchers lookout walk. 40 min return walk plus stop off time. But of a climb back up but great family trek.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 20, 2024

Went worth falls is fed by a stream which was dammed to form Wentworth Lake in order to supply steam engines with water on the way up to Katoomba. Hence the supply to the falls is regulated by the lake level and so it is rare that the falls are raging. But its a nice view other than the falls, although not as majestic as Sublime Point..

We did the 1 hour return trip with our young kids and gosh was it worth it. The pay off at the end of the hour was a lovely view of the baby falls where the kids could walk around the water and feel the rocks whilst being safe. The main falls are about a 4 hour (round trip) journey which our kids just couldn't manage but it would be a great goal to tackle one day. The track to the baby falls was very graded, well signed and not too challenging - don't have to be fit to give it a go. Parking is at a premium there - might take a while to find a spot but its worth the wait.

The walk to Wentworth Falls Lookout isn't difficult so it is suitable for everyone.
It was a pity that the weather wasn't that good on our visit. It was foggy with a lot of clouds. We cannot see the falls and the view of the valley clearly. It must be more impressive to go on a sunny day.
There were quite a lot of parking places.
We went in late December so there were no restaurants opening. Perhaps it is better to pack food before heading to the walk.

This was a superb weekend visit and one that truly rewarded the intrepid. We really enjoyed the walk on a fine Sunday last month, and found that we could take superb photos once we got to the view lookout. It was sunny and the temperatures rose from cool to warm so it was ideal weather for a hike.

Wonderful scenery. The noise of the falls, the birds and the smells of the bush are just fantastic.
The area is well signed and walks are clearly marked for direction, time and difficulty. A very well run park system

We decided to do this walk whilst staying in the Blue Mountains. The path was a bit muddy and wet and very steep in parts, and not for the faint hearted, but we were rewarded with stunning views of the mountains and the waterfall below. They say it takes an hour to go to the bottom and back but as the conditions weren’t brilliant, it took us an hour and 20 minutes but we did stop to take photos. A highlight for us and a very memorable experience. Would recommend doing this on a dry day with good visibility as the views and scenery are incredible.

Excellent for all levels of walking hiking. The walk to the top of the falls is beautiful but it is a longer/ steeper way down to the bottom. You’ll be blown away by the striking views and beautiful natural shots.

Having driven past on several score occasions, I finally thought to have a look at the Falls! After doing so, I couldn't work out why I waited so long? An easy & short drive in off the Highway with a pretty full car park leads to a short stroll to the lookout. There are several view points or an approx 1 hour walk to the falls or longer more involved walks. You choose your pain or pleasure! Limited picnic shelters but clean facilities available. A great spot on a nice day.

This is a lovely spot and not an overly strenuous walk. We took the round trip via the undercliff trail to the falls lookout and then back up via weeping rock. The falls are lovely. We had a sunny day with a rainbow in the falls spray. The undercliff track was fascinating. It is a bit rough in parts as it is being redone but doable for any able bodied walker. The trip back up from the falls to the road has 2 forks and one goes via weeping rock which is a little patch of paradise.

Weeping Rock in Wentworth Falls is a small waterfall formed by Jamison Creek cascading over a rock overhang.
I was there when it was raining and the volume of the waterfall is mind blowing. Usually you’re able to walk through the stairs next to the waterfall!
đź“Ť Weeping Rock
Via walking track from Wentworth Falls Picnic area
⏰ 1.6KM Return, 1 hour
🏔Easy to moderate
⚠️ Be careful when treading on the rocks, it’s slippery (this is a no-brainer)

Hi, I am travelling with my family so wouldn't like to go for a very challenging walk. I am also targetting a 1.5 hr-2hr moderate difficulty experience but also wouldn't like to miss on the beauty this place has to offer. Which walk would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

This is a problem. Wentworth Falls is so beautiful.
Hiking is also a great adventure.
Is it possible to have more time?
I hope I was of help.

I'm wondering if this waterfall is suitable for toddler as I am bringing my mother who is 80 years old and my kids who is 17 months with me. Thanks
Written September 16, 2018
there are hikes of 15 min, 30 and 1 hours. So I won't do it with a toddler.

I hope to use the shortest route (15min) to Wentworth Falls. How do I get to the “car park” using the Blue Mountain Explorer Bus?

The Blue Mountains Explorer Bus does not go to Wentworth Falls.
You need to catch the local #685 bus and get off at the stop on Fletcher St on the corner of Falls Rd, then walk the rest of the way down Falls Rd to the Wentworth Falls picnic grounds.

I would like to spend a day at Blue Mountains and see Jenolan Caves and Wentworth Falls. Are these attractions fairly close to one another? I’ll also be using public transport for my duration of Sydney Trip and am willing to walk a bit too. Do we need to purchase a pass ? Sorry I’m not very knowledgeable on these things. I thought it would be easier just to ask the question
Written January 5, 2018
Public transport won’t get you to Jenolan Caves. It’s about an hour to an hour and a half drive, so not really close to the main part of the Blue Mountains. All bush walks are free, so no passes needed.

Where is the parking area for our cars, and how long is the walk from the parking lots to the waterfall? :-)

There are signs on highway directing to Wentworth Falls. It is a steep descent and about a mile

Where do the free walking tours 2.5 x2 start from They sound great but cant see any starting point or meeting place. Cheers

There are three routes to the falls. 1. From the railway station follow the Charles Darwin walk alongside the creek to Wentworth Falls itself. 2. From the car park Adjacent to the toilet block after entry into the park and follow the wide well prepared track to Wentworth Fall 3. My favourite starts in the same location as 2. above but diverts onto the Undercliff Track. This walk has been recently upgraded by Parks. Much of it is walking under the cliff edge almost like walking along behind a waterfall without the full flow of water but reminiscent of a hanging swamp on places. There are guided walks. Gwondana Photography (my business) runs a full lookout tour with photography tuition along the top of the cliffs including waterfalls. They start at Katoomba finishing at Wentworth Fall. Part by vehicle and part on foot. We venture into places tourists aren't often seen.

If you walk down the steps its about 1 hr return. If you then walk down the ladders its also another 1 hr return. Hence total down and up is 2 hours.
If you walk from the Conservation Hut (café) to Wentworth falls and back allow a 3- 4 hr trip.
