We must have driven past this monument several times looking for it. We were expecting something a bit bigger. It was in the centre of an intersection, which was different. We had to laugh once we found it. We were disappointed.

The people of Wentworth built this monument in honour of theTEA20 Harry Ferguson Tractor which was involved in the building the levee banks to protect the town from the huge 1956 floods. It is interesting to note that the cairn of rocks on which the...More

Yes, it's a tractor monument, and pretty small, but it does have historical significance in Wentworth. Take a look as you go to see the confluence of the Murray and Darling rivers, which is really interesting as they are different colours.

The affects of the 56 floods were minimised by the mighty little Massey Ferguson tractors. A very nice display and storyboard are well worth a visit as is the little park that it is in.

The story of the 1956 floods, as per the video at the museum, highlighted the importance of the Ferguson Tractor Monument to us. If we hadn't seen the video, we wouldn't have understood the importance of the monument.
