Did a short walks before our tour definitely would recommend it. The lake was really blue and the trail is kid friendly.

Went to look at Blue Lake after doing Lucas Cave. It just looked like a pond of water. Didn't look to special at all.

The Blue Lake is apparently the bluest it has been in years. Unfortunately the River Walk is currently closed due to the aftermath of the recent bushfires. The lake needed to be dredged and the path is currently subject to rock falls. Remediation work is currently underway.

The lake is not accessible to visit. You have to go up and around (steep climb, power line down and risk rocks falling) to view it. Its also not this beautiful teal colour anymore either. (similar but not the same) I was very upset and disappointed.

Blue Lake has been closed while it is dredged our to repair flood damage. Its soil is stored in the Upper Car Park, for re-location, and new boardwalks are planned for its surrounds, so that it should be better and more accessible than it ever was.

The beautiful blue lake is no more, it was washed away in the floods. Just a gravel pit now, the walks are gone too.

The lake is a quick 5 minute walk from the Jenolan Caves. We then followed the walkway right around the perimeter of the lake. We saw lots of birdlife and lizzards, but sadly we didn't see the platypus. When we got to the other side of the lake, thinking we'd reached the end of the perimeter walk, we discovered that the track actually led to parking area #2, requiring another half-hour walk. Our cave tour started in 20 minutes, so we had the choice of rapidly retracing our steps back round the lake, or using the short cut that other people facing the same problem had obviously used before: clambering up the rocks and jumping over the stone wall onto the road leading to the caves. So, unless there's information about the pathways that we don't know about, I'd recommend leaving ample time to retrace your steps back around the lake to return to the caves.

The Lake situated outside the perimeter of the caves is a simple lake which is a little bluish in colour. We got to see what looked like a platypus in the lake. The other end has a man made dam of sorts holding back the flow of water.

Take the walk down to the base of the waterfall, it’s a peaceful walk in beautifully gentle surrounds.
