About
Balranald Discovery Centre is the home to our Visitor Information Centre, an Interpretive Centre, the old Balranald Lockup, Malcolm Building Museum and the old Wintong Station School. A great skatepark and playground for the children and a cafe onsite.

We used the Centre a fair bit as it had a great cafe with food to our liking, budget and quality. The Centre was well looked after and modern. It had a tourist information section with helpful maps, a gaol and a rebuilt teacher's residence come mini-classroom repositioned from a farm where it had been used. Information about the indigenous people and their involvement withe Mungo Man and Lady's rehabilitation. This place was attractive, useful and a place to learn.

Friendly staff with information about Balranald and surrounds. Maps, local crafts and condiments for purchase. Cafe attached with good coffee and range of menu items including vegan, homemade soups and chutneys, salads and classic items for children. Reasonable prices. Old Gaol next door- free to walk through and interesting . Clean toilets and showers. Enclosed park with play equipment for little ones.

Stayed overnight in the sealed RV park behind the Information Centre which had bins, potable water, toilets and showers. Was pleasantly surprised at the scale of the info centre complex. It had an area with brochures, products for sale, free WiFi and a helpful assistant. There was a cafe and toilet/shower complex, an interactive display, a town museum, an old gaol and a re-located schoolhouse from last century.

Altogether I was very impressed by the facilities and appreciated being able to park up overnight in the RV Park. Well done Balranald!

I actually tried to rate it 5 out of 5. The app wouldn’t let me check the fifth star.
I love this cafe. Every time I pass I stop and have coffee or food.
This morning was porridge and fruit. Perfect quantity and good porridge👏.
Lovely people. Husband and wife run it. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Thanks for another lovely break in my long drive today 💖

Highly impressed with this centre.

Immaculately clean and modern toilets and showering facilities, which are free.

Excellent cafe, very reasonably priced - the scrambled eggs were sublime, and coffee was excellent.

Staff friendly and courteous.

A great place to stop on your way to Mungo NP.

We stayed here overnight in the RV parking area behind the Visitors Centre. We had access to beautiful hot showers, toilets, picnic facilities and a lovely garden area. We shopped at the bakery and wandered around town in the morning.
Thank you Balranald for being an RV friendly town & for making it such a pleasant place to stay!

We recently stayed in the free-camp area behind the Information Centre in the middle of town. It did not disappoint! The centre itself was well appointed, the café a delight, and the showers and toilets absolutely the best we have encountered in 8 weeks of travelling! We were given lots of information on the best places to eat in town, and we did leave our fair share of funds in town. The camping spot is all bitumen, flat, and water is available for drinking, filling tanks etc. The walk through to the amenities is via a beautifully landscaped garden. Would not hesitate to stay here in the future. Well done Balranald on catering for the travelling public!

Not so long ago we would plan to stop elsewhere on a long trip - now we will always plan to stop! Interesting for a wander - but best thing for a family with 3 kids is the playground - it's not huge but has been designed to suit all ages. Well done - so many changes lately here are really adding to the town!
