Tiny little village that, I would guess, is supported completely by tourism. Waterfall is not all that impressive. Looking at some of the stuff being sold, I can't imagine that it's all locally crafted...if it is, they have some amazingly consistent artists. The beach was...More

I thought the concierge at my hotel booked me on a whale watching tour, but I wasn't too disappointed once I made it to Yelapa after not seeing any whales. This mountain village set in the hills of Yelapa was an amazing adventure. Hiking to...More

We hiked from Majahuitas to the Yelapa waterfalls thru the jungle. It was a very special experience and not too difficult. Our guide collected some passion fruit and let us eat them, as well as other local fruits from the trees and bushes. Getting to...More

The waterfall is not what it used to be. Definitively rent the horse it's worthwhile. The horse ride is relaxing and refreshing once you hear the running water.

This is the closer, smaller waterfall to Yelapa. The walk up is on a paved path and not particularly steep. Along the way you get to see some jungle as well as some unfortunately dilapidated structures, but the falls themselves are quite pretty.

While the falls themselves are basic with a small swimming area beneath them and a very tacky half building nearby that had some snacks the real treat is the trek from the beach through the village on cobblestone walkways used by pedestrians and the odd...More

Hiking up the river to the waterfall is a great 3 hour activity. It takes about 1 hour to get up there and hike is moderate. You'll most likely see snakes, lizards, parrots, horses and dogs. Depending on the time of year you might need...More

The waterfall is lovely, but coming from Canada it is not spectacular. I loved the quaintness of Yelapa. with the small winding paths everywhere. The beach area was a little too commercial for me.

There are two. The one in town is higher & more picturesque, the one farther away isn't anywhere near as high but is equally spectacular in a different way and well worth the hour horseback ride or 90 minutes hike it takes... More
