It should be immediately noted that there are two different waterfalls listed under this heading. I will speak to both. The waterfall in town - up a short trail in the town of Yelapa is a tall waterfall surrounded by jungle. Currently the waterfall is...More

First, I have to say that I am from the Seattle area and we have many wonderful hikes and waterfalls that we visit on an annual basis, so my opinion may be clouded by my experience as a Northwestern native. Second, we were in Mexico...More

Wonderful! Lots of friendly people on the way up to the waterfall. Short walk. Pretty setting with the restaurant at the top!

Its a 2 mile run up a dirt trail from town, work up a sweat running to the falls and jump into the falls. My friends and I did it 4 or 5 times in a week.

Take the water taxi 300pesos RT & avoid the tour 1100 pesosRT. Haven't experienced the tour but once there, we can see the tour was hustled along in a group effort, rather than self exploration around the small area. We walked as well, no horses,...More

The exciting water taxi ride is bout the only thing exciting about the trip to yelapa. Don't waste your money, time or energy. The town is non-descript and an isolated tourist trap. Nothing quaint here. The walk to falls only yielded sweat that dripped more...More

The walk to the waterfalls was quicker than I expected and worth the effort. I didn't expect a bar at the waterfalls, but it was a nice surprise. We enjoyed the view and a beer before heading back down to the beach.

The Yelapa falls are worth the visit. To get to the farthest of the two falls from the beach it takes about 75 minutes. If you're distracted and miss the right hand turn off the road, by the time you figure it out you'll tag...More

There are two. The one in town is higher & more picturesque, the one farther away isn't anywhere near as high but is equally spectacular in a different way and well worth the hour horseback ride or 90 minutes hike it takes... More
