Visited here with my friend and her 4 month old son. Unfortunately it was raining so we stopped for lunch in the little cafe. It was clean and had reasonable prices. We got into the gardens for free once the rain stopped as we are both national trust members. You get a free map and each path is colour coded... More

I have been to Wakehurst many times and will always go back again. There are so many different tress from all over the world that change with the seasons. Autumn is spectacular for the changing colours. Catering is good but not great. There are lots of picnic areas if you wish to take your own lunch. It is part of... More

We visited Wakehurst today and I was very underwhelmed. The parking fee of £10 is utterly extortionate! We are National Trust members and you don't get free parking at Wakehurst as you do everywhere else. Why on earth they think it's reasonable to charge £10 to park I simply don't know! An utter rip off. The place itself was not... More

Being NT members, we have visited Wakehurst Place many, many times. It is always beautifully maintained and always has good children's activities on. There is a car parking charge, and some of the paths are tarmacked around the garden. From previous experience, the cafe and the house itself are also nice to visit, but on this particular occasion we only... More

We visit the gardens regularly and always enjoy ourselves. There is something for everyone here - magnificent trees,a walled garden, lake, woods, etc. There are trees, plants and shrubs from throughout the world. Make sure you also visit the Millennium Seedbank; you cannot fail to be intrigued and fascinated by the variety of seeds throughout the world and the uses some of the plants... More

Wakehurst place is a very special location. Extensive and beautiful gardens means you can have private walks even at the busiest times. A fabulous cafe to spoil yourself after all the exercise. An interesting house to meander around if it is too damp outside and then the seed centre to visit. Top this off with an extensive shop when you... More

We used to come here every few weeks before they introduced the parking charges and as we now have to pay parking fees this has reduced our visits to a couple of times a year. However, that said, Wakehurst does not disappoint and in order to justify the £10 parking charge, we recently spent a whole day here and thoroughly... More

Have been going here for over twenty years and have always loved the place but took the kids today and must say we were a tad disappointed. Firstly, a parking charge is unnecessary. We pay enough as National Trust members to get parking for free and the £2 extra is just not needed. Secondly, we ate in the stable restaurant... More

Great kept gardens, beautiful grounds and woodland to walk around on a sunny afternoon, is expensive though but suppose that's why its so well kept!
