A lovely beach with pebbles when the tide is in and sand when it goes out. Perfect for messing about in the waves.
Watch out for dog walking time just after 6pm when parking becomes free, as lots let their animals run up to strangers which is disconcerting for some children.

The beach is popular in summer with free residential street parking if you don't mind a short walk.Great sea views and the panoramic coastline.Remains of ww2 mulberry harbour .Dog friendly.
No facilities.Shingle beach, being managed by a big digger then sand.
I understand the beach is privately owned. There are signs to walking routes.
Nearby residents are clearly upset by folk coming down cul de sacs, not finding the paths to the beach.Big notices.
The last water quality report I had seen scored Poor.
But it's understandable that many come to relax, walk and party.

The reason this beach is a little gem is because it is private and owned by the residents of Aldwick Bay Estate. Of course no one minds dog walkers and holidaymakers passing through as long as they realise the beach is private and for residents and their families and guests only. The private part stretches from one end of the estate to the other but does not include the beach huts part. The Dunes, the sitting area and the boardwalk are all part and parcel paid for by the estate residents. Only residents can park in the Dunes and they all have badges in their cars to show they are residents. I have lived on this estate for 12 years and it always looks good due to the efforts of the residents.

Fantastic little Gem - Aldwick Bay Beach
This beach is a great hidden gem. We visited on a beautiful sunny day and there were only a handful of people with loads of wildflowers. The beach is off of the private Aldwick Bay Estate. There is a boardwalk with benches and on a clear day you can see from Worthing to Selsey!! Great day out.

I don't know what it's like on a nice sunny day, but in October it's the quintessential bleak British seaside beach, pebbles, wind, spray, forlorn looking beachside huts, closed snack stand and the reason why the package holiday business to Southern European beaches and beyond is so successful. However, if you're a baby-boomer or older and want a bit of childhood cold summer beach holiday nostalgia, it's the perfect place! Oh, and a good place to walk the dog!

Visiting a friend whose house backs onto the beach. It was a beautiful sunny day although quite windy. The beach was almost deserted apart from a few local families and people walking their dog. Spotlessly clean and no ice cream vans or greasy spoon cafes to be seen. Idyllic.

This beach is fantastic. It is a very clean, shingle beach lined with beach huts. There is a small cafe selling snacks and wonderful ice cream. There is a little boat club and you regularly see small boats being winched in and out of the water. The parking is cheap and free on some of the near by roads. There is also West Park close by, with toilets on hand.

If you like a pebbly beach then this is one for you! Don’t despair if you you like a bit of sand too as that appears at low tide. There’s a prom to stroll along and a seafront pub called The Waverley if you fancy some refreshment whilst you’re out & about.

Took me back to my childhood, walking barefoot in the warmth of the shallows, lovely firm sand and then the excrutiating pain of struggling up the shingle to get back to the promenade. Memories are made of this.

We walked from the Royal Norfolk Hotel along the prom, passed the beach huts to see the Mulberry Harbour, a very pleasant walk with 2 possible watering holes - a beach café run by some very pleasant Thai ladies and the Waveney Pub which is just before the beach huts

How do they keep the beach private ?

The estate is a private estate.

Are dogs allowed on this stretch of beach in August? Thank you for your reply.
Written August 20, 2018
They are allowed on the beach every month of the year currently (2018).

All of the pictures here were taken on private land. This is not a public place. The foreshore and roads here are all owned by the residents of Aldwick Bay Estate. They all pay a lot of tax for this privilege and it’s unfair to advertise the roads and foreshore in this manner.
Written August 15, 2018
As a resident of Aldwick Bay Estate I can confirm this statement is true.
