About
This guided walking tour around Rugby School includes the School Museum, The Close, Chapel and other points of historical interest. Our museum houses many fascinating artifacts, including the first written rules of Rugby Football and examples of early balls and caps. See 'The Close' where the game began, The Old Quad where Tom Brown played, and walk in the footsteps of Lewis Carroll. There are many examples of William Butterfield's stunning architecture. Drop in tours run most Saturdays at 2pm. Groups at other times by arrangement.

Fantastic tour of a historical school where Rugby football was first played. Many interesting artefacts and tales about former pupils and sport. Angus was extremely knowledgable and clearly interested in the history of the school and a truly wonderful tour guide.

The tour was perfect, at 1.5 hours. Julie, the guide, was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. Her knowledge was superb. The tour was also very reasonably priced. It was a not-to-be-missed experience.

The wonderful view of the hallowed fields where the game was invented and the moving poignancy of the memorial Chapel. I have MS and there are plenty of places to rest and gather your energy.

We very much enjoyed this. Our guide Angus was excellent and we learned a great deal. We particularly enjoyed the sports room of the museum and seeing the inside of the chapel.

Enjoyed a wonderful and really informative tour of Rugby School. Steeped in history in the history of the game of rugby, in developments in education and, of course, Tom Brown’s school days this was a great chance to see and experience history where it actually happened. We had a private tour for the two families which was great value at £70 and our guide Julie was just lovely. Really chatty and informative. A great experience. Thank you Julie.

A fantastic opportunity to experience life beyond the walls and into Rugby School.
Julie was an excellent tour guide who brought the school to life through stories of the past and recollections of the present. An absolute gem.

We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful tour of Rugby School and museum today. Our guide Julie was exceptional. The tour was engaging, well paced, she had excellent knowledge and passion for the school. But more than this, she was very warm and took a genuine interest in all on the tour and our questions. We honestly couldn't have asked for more, a wonderful balance of learning about the origins of rugby, the buildings and present day school.
