Sadly no longer there
Mar 2020
I visited almost four years ago now, sadly no longer there. The pen and ink drawing was done later as so many people missed seeing this fabulous work of art, at the time it put Lowsonford on the map.

Was an interesting work of art!

Don't travel a long way to see this Gormley work of art as it was only in place for 12 months and has now been removed!!

Only a temporary installation apparently
Aug 2017 • Friends
Don't waste any time trying to find this. This is the second time we've visited this site. On the first occasion we were informed that it had been removed for the winter (which we thought was strange). On this trip we went into the local pub to ask and were told it had only been temporary and hadn't been there for at least 12 months. Never mind 😁

found statue in a lovely place on a gorgeous summer Sunday morning and makes you proud to be English and live in a calm, peaceful shire with where you can stumble on beautiful, thoughtful contemplative work sitting at the side of the canal.

This really excellent selection of a spot to place such a fine piece of art creates a beautiful juxtaposition

Not everyone's cup of tea but I think that this life-sized sculpture is a tasteful addition to the canalside.
I have been here twice, once walking down from Hockley Heath (4.5 miles each way) and again this morning, this time in the car primarily to take some photos.
It's been here for nearly a year and is due to be removed mid May so I happened upon it just in time.

Has To Be Seen
Mar 2016 • Couples
While it may not be worth driving a long way out of your way for, if you are in the area this is something that really ought to be seen.
Having seen The Angel of the North and "Another Place" on Crosby Beach it was a "must do" for us when we were in the area last weekend.
Sadly as there was a boat passing through the lock at the time we were there with someone who was happy to stop and have a chat with us we did not get to see it with still calm water to see the reflections in but, as the lower lock gates leak a little I suspect it is unlikely you can ever see reflections in the still calm water of the lock.
I love the rust on Gormley's men and this one was no different. The experience was not quite as breathtaking as other Gormley sculptures but we are pleased we went and saw it

Very interesting

Unless you are an afficianado of Gormley, probably not worth a specific visit. However combined with lunch at the Fleur de Lys it would make a nice trip. We were travelling by boat. The spot is very pretty an great to see something unusual like this

Came across this on one of my many walks with friends.
After trudging along the canal for miles we decided to stop for lunch at the fleur de lys and there in was staring across the water
Quite a surprise and a super work of art.
