My wife was given a voucher by our daughters for a couple of riding sessions here. However, due to an accident resulting in her having a broken ankle, my wife spoke with the manager about redeeming the voucher at a later stage. At this time she was informed they were moving sites to Chessington, which is somewhere she cannot access easily. In the meantime Coronavirus and lock down occurred. After lockdown, my wife was unable to get to Chessington (and nowhere near ready to ride again) she was assured a refund would be 'no problem' as soon as you had completed your move. She was later then told in an email "I can confirm that we are happy to continue to honour your vouchers here at Chessington, even though the time scale has expired." NO MENTION OF MY WIFE BEING TOLD PREVIOUSLY "A REFUND WOULD BE NO PROBLEM" Despite repeated appeals, they refused to honour their commitment to a refund made over the phone. The 'proprietor', one Lynne Patricia MASTROIANNI was extremely intransigent, keeping repeating the line of "we are happy to honour your vouchers here at Chessington and are also happy to do this when you are fit and ready." - completely ignoring the mitigating factors. Their parting shot in an email from a 'Louise' at The Riding School was this: "We are a family run business and we pride ourselves on customer care and accommodating our Clients' needs the best we can. Like any business, we do also have to have procedures and policies in place to allow us to continue successfully. Please kindly respect the decision of our proprietor, Lynne as this will be the final decision." The above is a shameful response from Kingston Riding Centre, and one that I feel compelled to share in order to make people aware of what sort of treatment to expect from this company. They should hang their heads in shame.

With constantly changing instructors, each and every week you start from the first page! They didn’t treat well to my daughter (Year 9) who attended dressage events in Istanbul. Whether you had a riding experience before, they treated you as a novice newcomer each week. They didn’t have a proper management of relations, always left on the hands of interns/newbees in the centre. Don’t waste your time and money!

I joined a super 2 hour hack through Richmond Park and had the best morning. The horse I was given was a lot stronger than I was used to but the guide really looked after me and made sure I was safe and in control at all times. The park itself is beautiful and it was really relaxing to ride through the trees and spot all the deer. They even gave us prosecco afterwards which I thought was really sweet (I think this is a bank holiday special) and I would definitely go back again :)

I have been hacking out from Kingston Riding Centre for ten years as a sharer of three very different super horses belonging to the school. I was a really nervous adult learner but through patience and supportive instruction I have achieved my dream which is riding weekly, going out into Richmond Park on my own and I have had some fantastic riding holidays in Spain, Romania and Botswana. Of course, with riding and horses, learning never ends! A few weeks ago top instructor Nicky gave a fantastic dressage demo firstly with two well schooled and highly trained dressage horses following by a demo with two riding school horses, with really insightful explanation of what the horses and riders were doing and what action they needed to take to ensure the horses were able to achieve the best they could as individuals with ease and confidence. It's a very friendly place, try it out.
