I treated a friend to see sign of the times for the Saturday matinee. It was only my 2nd visit to the theatre. I booked us the cheapest seats pit cushions not realising it is exactly what it says cushions sitting on the floor. We thought we would try it out and see. Would certainly not recommend those seats and would always go for proper seats in the future. The other issue was there was no heating which we were warned about so it was freezing sitting on the floor. You are allowed to take a drink in from the bar which is great. The performance was excellent acting by two guys for the whole show. Really love this little theatre and will be booking again but not pit cushions seats a learning lesson !!!!
Afterwards we visited Jamie Oliver's just over the road. Highly recommend . All in all a great afternoon out with a friend.

The Rose is our local theatre and we have seen several shows over the years but last night the Rose Youth players presentation was wonderful! Excellent. All actors top marks.....Toad was magnificent even though he reminded me of Boris through out! (plus green hair!). Do go and see this production! However, It's a shame that some parents take children that are far too young to understand/enjoy these shows - one hour - twenty minute interval - one hour.....too much for pre-schoolers and some probably frightened witless by the dark woods/menacing weasels/loud thunder and lightning......please consider this if you have very young children.

For a small town like Kingston, so close to London's West end (only 12 miles away) we are blessed to have such a great little theatre. There is always something good going on, whether it is a full RSC production, a pre- West End run, comedy nights, music gigs, talks by authors or brilliant acting courses for children. Highly recommended, particularly the Christmas shows.

Saw Persuasion. It was dreadful sadly as I love this theatre. Terrible costumes, pointless music, strange modern version. I felt the audience were laughing in incredulity at times. Waste of money and time. It seemed to miss the point of the story on so many fronts.
Either that or I am not clever enough!

With friends we have just seen 'Silver Lining' written by the very quick-witted Sandi Toksvig. My advice would be to give it a miss. Very disappointing. Acting was mediocre - they frequently tripped up over each other's lines. Unfortunately you can see the jokes coming a mile off. The plot is predictable. A big let-down from the usually talented and hilarious Sandi Toksvig.

Sadly, yummy mummies and pandering to their offspring are an affliction of living in this part of the world. I’ve had the unfortunate experience of attending a production that a number of these children were at. I’ve no issue with kids as long as their parents understand that others have paid a full ticket price and thus would like to enjoy the play too.

Unfortunately I had a whole row of these children behind me who talked (loudly) non-stop, throughout the play, aswell as kicking chairs. To the point that the lady sitting next to me (also with a child, but a well behaved little boy) advised me in the interval that because of the noise the children were making, it had put her off bringing her own son to any such child friendly productions again.

Now whilst I agree this is solely the parents fault for not instilling any manners/discipline into the children, I would have expected the ushers (who were frequently in and out of the theatre) to intervene. It should not be down to other patrons to do this.

Sadly this has marred my enjoyment of the Rose theatre and I won’t be returning.

Stayed in Kingston for one night and came across this lovely theatre. Booked tickets for that night and enjoyed watching a performance of Shakespeare's King John. The theatre was not full but the performance was good. An unexpected treat during our short stay.

no heart, poor facilities and draconian staff who sternly told us to hurry up and sit despite the show not beginning for another 6 minutes
