A Royal Boough.

The centre market in Kingston-upon-Thames is just such an amazing place to be, the surrounding buildings are full of history as befitting a Royal Borough where ancient saxon kings were crowned. The Main Market is still held daily and offer such a wide range of take out foods. The main high street offers all the normal high street big chain stores. But for me the market is the best and I recommend you take time to visit with so much to offer. There is an antiques center held on many floors and great for bargain hunters. This borough has so much history.

This is local history museum in the Guildhall and should not be cnfuse with Kingston museuem in Wheatfield Way. We found it extremely interesting and spent some time looking at the archives that were available.

Interesting artefacts; history of Kingston; Eadweard Muybridge; Nipper the dog; maps etc. Nice building, tucked away beside the library. Has a good little shop too.

A way of looking at the old history of Kingston

The Kingston History and archives centre is to be found in the Guildhall which located in the high street and is free to the public. Here you will find local books and directories, maps, photographs of the borough and a developing database of Victorian sources. If you have any interest in History visiting this centre is certainly worth a few hours of your time. It is very informative, This centre should not be confused with the museum which is located in Wheatfield Way it is entirely different..
