Came here half term for the first time. Didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to find such an engaging and interactive set up, including attired characters and a "quest trail" for the little ones to follow. Recommend a visit here.

Tamworth Castle is in an imposing position above the town and is well worth visiting. We enjoyed walking around the construction dating from Norman times and reading details of its long history and heritage which are very well documented, telling of its role as a home as well as its strategic importance for defending the area. From the top of... More

Having visited all the National Trust properties in the area, many times, we were at a loss as to where to go for the day. We suddenly thought of Tamworth just 15 minutes away. We had never visited the castle even though we had lived so close for 35 years. From the car park the castle stands out majestically rising... More

As a couple we visited the Castle on a cold damp January Saturday. We both really enjoyed the whole walk around the building, rooms and tower. There is a lot more to this site than does appear from the outside and it took us a full 3 hours to investigate everything. I would really recommend this site to educate children... More

Tamworth castle is a brilliant interactive place. You are given instructions on paper and via the ticket seller. As you go around the castle, everything is clearly marked and you can dress up as a knight and in family crest colours. You can see all the furnished rooms, some with original furniture. There is a lot of exploring all around... More

Had a wonderful time exploring the castle. A large number and range of rooms and interesting route makes a good 1.5 hour visit or more. Enjoyed dressing up in chainmail armour with my 10 year old son. Great views and excellent displays of weapons and 2000 years of history on 3 floors. Recommended.
