Not only do these people brew some simply wonderful beers. they sent my order
the next day. Wow !
I ordered via email and heard nothing until 17.30 the following day they rang my bell with my order.
Lymestone beers are some of the best I have tasted and I heartily recommend
them to all beer drinkers.
PS They also brew Lager and Cider and have a visitor centre and meals at the brewery. Worth a trip.

Arrived at the Borehole Pub just before the appointed time for the brewery tour only to find it was “just up the road”.
Eventually found the appropriate building and joined the fifty others who were drinking “freely” the local brew. The owner of the brewery introduced himself and his daughter who managed the operation. The next couple of hours were fascinating and informative as the owner animatedly talked his way through the history and operation of his brewery. An evening well spent.

We went for a friends 60th birthday party. We had the bar area inside the factory to ourselves, chose our own music, drank plenty of fantastic beer - proper old fashioned real ale each one of their beers very distinctive and top quality- try them all! and had pie and peas and some "lobby".

I met the boss who was just great, and so engaging about the business, and the staff were really accommodating and just great people, and really helped make it a great night. Thanks Brad!

Regards, Andy

Visited evening of 16th August 2019 and had a fantastic night. The staff - apologies for not remembering names - could not have done enough to make us feel welcome.

It is a family run micro brewery so the clues are there that this won’t be the biggest of brewery tours. What they lack in size they make up for in enthusiasm, knowledge and a passion for their products.

£15 for as much drink as you can manage - and trust me, some of our party took full advantage! - a bowl of stew (and seconds!), a great talk about the brewery and amazing hospitality. Bargain any day of the week!

Thanks to everyone for a great night!

This small family run brewery is a delight, an excellent informative tour although like many breweries there is not much to actually see. It is a hands on brewery not mechanical or automated. However the beer it produces is without doubt exceptional.

Hi There Thanks very much for the review of our brewery tour. You are correct there is not much 'touring' of the building, but there is a lot of information given out and Brad is always keen to explain how the brewing kit works. I am so pleased that you like the beers and had a good night See you very soon we hope Viv

Of all the brewery tours I've done, and there's been a few, this is without a doubt the best. £15 includes all the Lymestone ales you can drink, including during the actual tour, a bowl of amazing lobby and crusty bread, and a really interesting talk from owner Brad, telling the history of Lymestone, and brewing on the site. A thoroughly enjoyable few hours. Doors open at 7, with last orders at 10, and if you are up for another pint or so you can walk the long 100 metres downhill to The Borehole. Upcoming dates are usually on their Facebook page.

Very informative however it's not really 'a tour'; we sat in a room which was part of the brewery, we had an informative talk from Ian, who invited questions and was passionate about the history of the brewery and the process of beer making, he introduced us to the ingredients used. There was a 'pin' of beer to which we were invited to help ourselves, before and during the talk. Then we stepped into a neighbouring room to view the vats and Ian explained the whole process to us. The 'lobby' for the meat eaters was apparently very nice and served with crusty bread. The vegetarian option is not to be recommended. We were promised a free selection of ales in the borehole following the 'tour', this did not prove to be the case which was rather annoying, We felt rather short changed at the end of the brewery talk. If you are interested in real ale and you decide to visit, I recommend you take a jumper as it is ( and needs to be) rather cool. Think carefully before you book.

All in all rather disappointing although there is an adorable spaniel on site. If you are interested in the beer making process then this would be an interesting way to pass a rainy afternoon.

Hi There. Many thanks for your review of the Brewery tour and for your comments. I know which tour you are talking about and I am more than happy to respond. The brewery run very successful and well attended 'tours' on the third Friday of each month in an evening only. We have 30-100 people each month where the visitors have a range of 6 beers and a lager. There is no limit on the volume that can be consumed and the talk and look around the brewing room is followed by a healthy portion of Beef and ale stew and crusty bread and butter with a veggie options available too. Your party leader contacted me and asked me to put on a private event on a Bank holiday Sunday for 40 people. We were closed that day and all my staff were on leave. Despite being short staffed the relentless calls and requests resulted in me taking the booking.... big mistake. As the date got ever closer the numbers gradually decreased until there were only 16 people at the event. This is too few as we have a cut off of 25 people minimum to make it worth while for us all. The room is too large with only a few people in it, the range of beers reduces and the number of guest decrease and the cost v the income is such that it is not worth while us doing it. You only had 1 beer to sample because there were only 16 of you present... The minimum volume we can prepare is 36 pints, so we only did 1 beer to be sure that we did not end throwing it away. However we did offer bottled beers too to demonstrate the range that would have been available to a larger group. Several of your group were late arriving, delaying the start of the tour. We NEVER offer free drinks at our pub after a tour. Please check our website - there is nothing on there about free drinks other than in the Brewery and this was something that your tour arranger must have got wrong. If you have been on a tour and you have had the chance to drink freely for 2 hours, eat and have at least 2 members of staff to look after you, we feel that you have had £15 worth! The people who visit our brewery are usually people who are interested in real ale, they want to know about the history of brewing in Stone and they enjoy asking questions and getting the full details of Lymestone... your party were simply filling an afternoon and most could not be bothered to turn up - hence you felt that the event fell flat and we made a loss on the day. You may not have enjoyed the veggie option - but your fellow visitors polished off all the beef stew! This was a very disappointing day for us, and as a result we will NOT be taking any further private bookings as we felt very let down by your group. However, I am glad that you liked our dog..

Went with a group of friends for a tour for a 40th birthday of one of our group. The price of 15 pound was good value. The owner gave an informative talk on the history of brewing in Stone and of The Lymestone Brewery. There were quite a few beers available due to the large number of people attending the tour. All of these were included in the price of the night and a bowl of lobby was included. If you enjoy real ale, I would recommend booking on a tour. I think there are monthly tours and each one supports a local good cause. If in Stone or able to travel there get booked on a tour.

Great night at the brewery, welcomed into the bar within the brewery itself to sample at least 4 hand pull ales, a stout and their new lager. The owner gives a good talk on the history of the building and the brewery itself followed by a visit to the tank room where the brewing goes on. Not much of a tour as such but engaging and interesting all the same. Free bowl (or two ) of lobby and bread included and you can keep sampling the beer until last orders around 10:45pm...so you get your money's worth!!!!

Hi There Thanks very much for the review of our 'tour' night at the Brewery. We are really pleased that you enjoyed the night, found it interesting and felt that you had value for money too! You are right in that it is not much of a 'tour', however, it is a brewery visit, and a chance to take a look around and to chat direct to the Brewer. Please look out for other events and activities that are taking place at the Brewery all the time.
