Good half day out
Mar 2017 • Family
The park itself has quite a few species and a fair walk around the park, we arrived at 1pm and had completed the tour around and had lunch by 4.45pm. It makes a nice 1/2 day out. The keepers were friendly and polite and there are animal feeds through the day which kids can take part in. Some of the animals are very friendly a beautiful Sika deer quite enjoyed having her ears and back stroked so much she licked all of my arm. There are facilities to wash and toilet and alcohol gel at each enclosure too. The pizza were really good, hand made delicious after 3pm it is 2 for 1 with pizza. Overall we had a good time and will return in the summer.

Nice time had

Not usually keen on small-ish zoos but all animals looked happy, healthy and cared for. Staff were very quick to tell other users if they were too close or chasing the animals during the walk through areas. Enclosures were clean, a tad on the small side for some but the zoo only has small animals I suppose for this reason. Once we had seen an enclosure there was no desire by my 6 year old to revisit any. We didn't use the cafe as plenty of areas for picnics. The bouncy castle was an initial excitement for my daughter but it was very over run by older, more boisterous children who unfortunately were not monitored by parents. Prices were reasonable, loos were fine. Not sure I would plan a visit if weather was not on our side.

No longer open. See Peak wildlife park who have taken over.
I seem to have to put more into this review but as this facility is now closed I don't feel I can.

For the money you pay there's plenty there and there are expanding as we speak and if you pay double entrance fee you get a years free pass. Win, win. Oh yeah free massive bouncy castle the kids can stay all day.

Was greeted by very friendly staff!
The zoo was great. My grandchildren were allowed to go in to the animals and pet some of them, it was great to get so close to animals like wallabies with babies in their pouches. I would definitely recommend a trip out to see this park.

It has now reopened with new owner. Its had a makeover and weve had a fabulous day there for fathers day. Meerkats, wallabies ...you can get up close. Lemurs, penguins. Lots of families enjoying it. Had cuppa, sandwich and lemon and courgette cake in cafe. Would defgo again.

The penguins and meerkats drew me here again. I wish more people would visit Blackbrook as it deserves more recognition. Its been through the mill recently and taken alot to stay open. Fantastic birds. Lovely grounds. Amazing staff and very caring and knowledgable too.

advantage of cheap day out
Jan 2014
we've been a number of times before to Blackbrook and have always enjoyed it. They had a special price admission in January and we knew the zoo was struggling. It was our sons first visit and he really enjoyed it. Yes we did see a rat, but this is the first time out of many visits! However, it wouldn't be enough to put us off going again! Lots of bird life from all over the world to be seen. There are Limas and reptiles too. Access for wheelchairs could be difficult as there is a step bank on one part of the park but should manage, but if like us, you have a pushchair, you shouldn't have a problem. Would visit again, but in the summer months when the animals are more active.
