The statue of the Ancient Mariner is quit well made and gives an interesting insight into the legend and Samuel Coleridges epic poem.

We all really enjoyed this small harbour town in North Somerset. As we approached to park, and steam train with carriages was pulling away, the noise is unforgettable. We parked in the car park directly opposite the Pebbles pub and walked the short distance to the harbour...More

Watchet is a superb quaint old style seaside small town with cafes, pubs and places for musical entertainment. Well worth a visit. The statue of Coleridge's Ancient Mariner is inspiring especially if you have read the poem and coupled with the statue of Yankee Jack...More

The Ancient Mariners Statue is situated at the seafront of Watchet esplanade. It faces towards the town. It is a large unusual bronze statue which along with the statue of Yankee Jack are focal points of this small Somerset town.

An interesting sculpture as it shows just how huge an albatrosse was. Worth a visit on the lovely esplanade

Visited when snow deep on the ground last weekend & the day was dull and overcast. Probably lack of light which made the statue odd. On approach it appears the person had something draped over one arm but all is made clear by the explanatory...More
