In order to visit the Hinkley Point site, you have to book first & meet up at the Visitor Centre in Bridgwater. We were part of a group visiting & were joined by several members of the public. There is a lot of fuss about security which I suppose is necessary, but I'm not sure of the necessity for those with sandals to have to go & buy locally some cheap shoes as at no point did we get off the coach .....
There is a brief introduction to HP in the Centre: the Staff / Guide are obviously well briefed, although I think the intro film could have been more effective.
However, we then made a short walk to a very comfortable coach & were driven for about 25 minutes to HP where the coach slowly drove around the site with our guide pointing out various aspects & items of interest clearly & with humour; the coach drives back the way it originally came to enable passengers on both sides of the coach to see the same things. Then the coach returned us to the Shopping Centre.
My overall impression was the vastness of the complex & what an incredible feat of engineering & organisation the whole project demands.
It would be interesting to return in a year's time to see further progress.
The trip was free apart from parking fees at the Shopping Centre car park.

I work for EDF and have been to HPC a few times as part of my job but this week was the first time I had been on the public tour and to the visitor centre.
Well organised and free, a very interesting insight into how nuclear works and the scale of the project.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Me and my husband visited Bridgwater for two days. While walking around in angel centre we entered EDF visitor office a wonderful nice kind lady meet us. She showed us around and explain everything related to Hinkley Point. If you need any assistance please approach the lady in black on 3 computer in front of main entrance , sorry I forgot her name.

This is in a shopping centre. It’s just one room with staff to tell you how Hinkley is getting on and to answer any questions people have.
There are a few hands on learning things to have a go at that fit the theme of the place but I wouldn’t go out of my way or make a spacial trip to come here!
The visitor centre is in Bridgwater and Hinkley Point power station in up past Cannington nearly 10 miles away. Not exactly on site!

While to tour has it's flaws, it gets a clear 5-Star rating - where else can you witness such monumental engineering so close? To stand next to a generator as it produces 1% of the country's electricity is quite something (that's a lot of houses).
It was the occasional throw-away comments from our (engineer) guide which painted the most vivid pictures.....though he probably didn't realise it.
It wasn't easy to organise a date but I'm glad we went.

I love electricity, particularly when it is produced locally at Hinkley Point. I have never actually visited the power station, but I am sure that the staff give a good tour. I have seen the security guard who mans this unit and he is very well turned out and presentable. A good advert for the company. I do like their activity days though and have visited them several times with my niece who found these events very informative. GO EDF!!

The last time I walked through Angel Place the EDF centre was closed and empty of all displays, so not sure it's available

Had a very informative trip around the Hinkley Point B Station yesterday. The 3 ladies that did the tour were very nice and happy ladies and had a wealth or knowledge.
Well worth a visit.
