Goodbye
Oct 2017
Closed and for sale. Hope the new owners do better at customer relations. Had some design done some years back and most of their plants died quickly.

This is now closed
Dec 2016 • Couples
After going downhill over a period of time, this is now closed (both restaurant and garden centre). It seem they want to build lots of houses on the plot. If you're looking for something local, try The Crazy Bear (expensive) or The Coach and Horses in Chiselhampton.

Disappointment
Jun 2016 • Family
I live in Northampton and my Mother lives in Abingdon. I had been told how wonderful Newington Nurseries are with a great tea room and I wanted to take my 95 year old Mum there. However, when we arrived yesterday (Wednesday) the nurseries was closed so we were both disappointed!!!!!! I was not amused after reading previous good reviews

Lovely garden centre
Jul 2015 • Solo
This place is very small and full of orchids but very friendly and has an absolutely gorgeous garden area. The cafe has some delicious looking cakes and the area where you eat is surrounded by orchids. I wouldn't imagine that you can spend too long here but it's very pretty and a nice place to stop for coffee and cake.

Worth a visit
A nice morning out, with some good plants. It's good if you want some unusual phalaenopsis orchids as there are lots of colours you can't find in mainstream shops, but the range of other orchid species is very limited.

Thank you for your review. We are very proud of our range of large, mature specimen trees and shrubs. All of our Phalaenopsis orchids are grown here in the UK. Unfortunately we no longer feature the range of other species due to lack of demand. If you are interested in any particular orchid varieties, please come and speak to a member of staff and we may be able to source specific plants for you.

Quality plants and excellent service
Jun 2014 • Business
Very impressed with the price and quality of perennial plants, box hedging, topiary and trees purchased from Newington Nurseries. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Café looks great must try next time I call.

Cafe / restaurant here is called "Juicy Juicy"
Mar 2014 • Couples
Please note the name if you are looking for reviews of the (excellent) café/restaurant here. I looked for reviews yesterday and could not find it as I did not know the name. Orchid House setting is lovely too!

overpriced and drab
Dec 2013 • Family
very overpriced, drab, run down, advertising as a Chelsea flower show gold winner, in not sure if the people who won it are still there as it was many years ago and no evidence of anything like the standard required here.

Thank you for your review. At the time of your review the owner of the business had been diagnosed with cancer and the business was in danger of closing. They have now recovered and we have been spending the last year returning the nursery to its former glory. Our 'in house' designer has won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show 3 times and silver twice, they were also awarded with the prestigious 'Presidents Most Creative Award' at Chelsea in 2009. They are still designing gardens for our customers today. We would love to have you back to see how the nursery should look. The restaurant in our orchid house is extremely welcoming and the cakes are fantastic! You can see recent photos of the nursery and orchid house on our facebook page.

Stunning!
Sep 2013 • Couples
This is a 'garden centre' with a difference - it felt almost like a mini 'Eden Project'. We wandered around the lush outdoor area and felt in another world. The experience is continued in the restaurant too where we had a choice of delicious cakes for afternoon tea. Of course, they want people to buy, but it's worth a visit whether you want to or not!
