We hired a boat for ten people and a small dog, to celebrate family birthdays. Taking a picnic and a couple of bottles of bubbly, we spent two very happy hours on this self-guided Thames voyage. The stretch of river at Abingdon is lovely and you can go through one of the locks as we did, which adds to the experience. Highly relaxing and enjoyable way to see the scenery. The boat was easy to manage and in very good condition. Everyone at AV Boats was friendly and helpful. There are good facilities at the boatyard, including toilets, a cafe and parking. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely 2 hr kayak trip from Abingdon.
I rented a kayak from the owner (Viktor), 2 years ago (before the pandemic!). This was from his other base at Benson.
Viktor is a really lovely guy, so friendly & helpful.
The equipment is first class - very comfy kayak with a good supporting backrest.
The buoyancy aid was great as it had a zip pocket in the front.
Dry bags were supplied if needed.
There was a little box with a lid in the middle of the kayak where the dry bag could go.
On my return, I noticed a little detour which was only possible in a kayak (or possibly a rowing boat?).
It was a canal which was no longer in use for normal craft (in fact the bridge that you went under was very low). It was called something like the Bristol & Wiltshire canal - not sure of the exact name).
You could travel quite a long way up this little canal which was a bit of an adventure (I'll be doing this first when I go again).
I can thoroughly recommend using AV boats.
I parked just over the bridge in a council car park.
I was able to pick up a car park pass from Viktor to put in my windscreen so I didn't have to pay.

Another brilliant time on the river thanks to AV Boat hire. Friendly, full of advice and tips and top quality equipment. Lovely little cafe next door to repleanish energy levels after your finished

So much fun. Despite giving short notice, Viktor was able to provide us with one of his best boats at a great price. The briefing instructions given were very clear and the scenery we experienced on a sunny October afternoon was superb. Many thanks AV.

Went to AV boats Abingdon on the off chance of hiring a canoe with my 2 granddaughters what a friendly and and helpful guy. Nothing was too much bother. The crafts were cleaned as they were finished with ready for the next person fantastic experience will definitely go there again Thank you AV boats and reasonably priced tip if it’s a sunny best book in advance

We booked this trip originally with AV Boats in Benson. I got a call 2 weeks prior to the booking asking if I minded moving the trip to Abingdon as Benson was closing for the winter. Turned out to be the best decision. Abingdon is a fantastic town and the cruising on the Thames was beautiful. We parked on the site and was offered to leave the car while had lunch at the Nags Head across the road (also fantastic). The staff were professional and knowledgeable They explained the working of the boat and the route perfectly. We were confident in taking the boat out. I thoroughly recommend hiring a little boar from AV.

My wife and I hired a small motorboat from Andre at AV Boats in Abingdon for half a day on Sunday 29 th August. It was a fantastic day and Andre was extremely friendly and accommodating. The boat was new and perfect for us. We made it to Sanford Lock and back in the half day. And enough space in the boat for quite a few refreshments!

I had visited AV boats at Abingdon and spoke to Victor to hire a boat the following week.
What a nice chap he is. Very helpful and friendly. We booked a small motorboat for the following Thursday for Myself, my partner and my daughter visiting from New York.
Upon arrival, Victor had prepared the boat with soft furnishings and made it very comfy. After a brief instruction on how to operate the boat and safety brief we were on our way for a delightful 2 hour trip up the Thames. I cannot recommend these guys. We had a lovely trip and considering a punt is £35 an hour, the hire charge was very reasonable without the hard work.

We hired the fishing boat for 4 of us for four hours which was just enough time to get us up to the pub in Sandford and back. Totally relaxing and lovely experience and the guys at AV were totally helpful and friendly. Would recommend taking boat out for a day next time and going to Oxford.

We hired a 10 seater and a 4 seater from AV Boats in Abingdon for 4 hours for my daughters 18th birthday on the August bank holiday. We set off from Abingdon through the lock and onto Sandford lock and then back again to Abingdon. The boats were a great day out and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great day out and thanks to all at AV Boats.
