Located on the beautiful Welbeck Estate in the heart of Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, the School offers a wide range of artisan cookery courses, suitable for all skill levels. There are one-day courses in bakery, cheese making, butchery ice-cream and chocolate making, preserves, charcuterie and brewing plus advanced, professional courses in baking and cheese making. The School is also an ideal venue for bespoke courses, corporate and team building days.

A great selection of courses

An amazing training school with specialist skills. A great range of courses throughout the year. The tutors are all handpicked for what they can bring to teaching and passing on their specialist skills. I have personally been on 4 of the courses ranging from cheese & butter, sausages, breadmaking and preserves. All of which were really enjoyable. I have also had a variety of guests stay with me from different parts of the world to learn some of these skills.

2 Day Sourdough course

Brilliant course, suitable for both complete beginners and home bakers with some experience. We baked 7 loaves in two days, went through theory and various interesting "experiments" with starters. The lecturer Emmanuel is pationate, knowledgeable and led the class in a relaxed and pleasant manner, happy to answer any questions and explain things. The school provides light breakfast with pastries and tea/coffee and delicious lunch on both days. Overall, great experience, highly recommended, I will be back again.

A pleasure to learn new skills

This is the 3rd course I have been on this year. First the breadmaking course, then the sausage making and recently the soft cheese, yoghurt & butter making. I have loved all of them.
Looking forward to the schedule for 2020 and the preserves and foraging courses....keep them coming, this is getting addictive.

I can quite honestly say I have just spent three amazing days with The School of Artisan Food and Emmanuel. Every single aspect of the course was well executed and exceeded all expectations. In fact, given the quality of the course and the outstanding hospitality offered to all delegates by the School staff, I would go as far to say the course is humbly under-priced for what it offers.

Keep this excellent standard up and keep doing what you do! While I can't think of a single negative or area for improvement, it may just be worth notifying future delegates that they will need to hire a van hire, to carry the abundant amount of bread home.

Bread & Patisserie Course

A fantastic course in a lovely location. Emmanuel is a great teacher. I learned loads and came away with lots of different kinds of bread that I was really proud of having made myself. I also now have the confidence to make them again at home. If you'd like to learn how to make bread, or improve your bread making, I'd really recommend this course.

Excellent fun and informative 2 Day Sourdough course

The course was led by Emmanuel Hadjiandreou who was inspiring, fun and very thorough. He set a busy pace and we baked hard. The workroom was air conditioned, stylish and well equipped. It was also very spacious. The school itself is set in a very picturesque location on the Welbeck Estate. The staff look after you well and the food, some of it produced by students on the professional level courses, was incredible. I came home with so much bread but I found homes for most loaves so I could set to baking again. I wish I lived a little closer, I'd do several more courses!

We did the one day Academy of Cheese Level One course and had a fabulous day. Great facilities, great teacher (thanks Katie!) lots of fascinating info and a shed load of cheese to eat and enjoy! What a day!!

A fabulous learning experience in a beautiful place

I recently attended a 3 day artisan bread making course taught by Emmanue Hadjiandreou and had a truly fabulous time. The teaching was excellent and Emmanuel is excellent at listening to everyone;'s questions and ansering them clearly. We learnt so much on this course I did not ever want it to end! Everything was thoroughly covered and I went home with a car boot full of bread! The buffet lunch on the course was particularly notable - fresh food cooked to perfection, and local cheeses for dessert. Plus, there was a locally made cordial on the lunch table. The 12 other participants on the course were sociable, lovely people. I cannot wait to find another course to attend!

Pasta making

I attended the pasta making with Valentina Harris using a voucher I had been given as a birthday present. I had a fantastic time, learnt lots of new skills and went away with enough food to feed me for the week. I was completely full after the delicious lunch they provided and sampling some of our dishes. Valentina was really personable and explained things well, giving plenty of hands on instruction. The class had 9 people with couples and individuals working together at stations for two. The school is well equipped, in a beautiful setting and has a small shop to buy cookery books and get your purchases signed by the chef. The day was great value and I am busy looking for what I can book on to next!

Home Dairy Skills - a wonderful day

I attended the one-day Home Dairy Skills course led by Katy Fenwick, and as with all courses I have been to at this School, it was a fascinating mix of instruction, science, history and practice. I left feeling inspired to make some of the products we learnt to produce, even though we hadn't been 100% successful. The understanding gained was crucial and something that cannot be gleaned from books. As ever, the in-house catering for refreshments and lunch was stupendous. I'll be going back...
