Went with a group yesterday, the state of the paths covered in birds & dog poo was terrible. Don’t they ever swill them down? Or they could put sand down as it covered our shoes… The stench of the reservoir & awful green slime was making us all gag it was so bad. 🤮 Lots of smelly stagnant water in a dyke too. . Food in cafe ok but getting too expensive for a snack… Carparks were half empty at 11:30am when we all met up, now we know why.

Went for a walk during an afternoon including a family member in a wheelchair. We were disappointed at the amount of algae on the lake, general rubbish around the trail which obviously attracted the rats in large numbers. They are not afraid of humans and ran on the paths around us probably expecting food wrappings to be dropped. Too many rats even in the car park where we couldn’t go to the bin as there were several trying to find a way to climb up it. We won’t be returning again until it’s cleaned up.

This is a nice short walk (approximately 1.4 miles) around the reservoir. The path is wide and flat and I would say fine for wheelchair users. Dogs must be on a lead and the only drawback is the small number of people who ignore this rule. The cafe in the visitor centre is well worth a visit too.

This is one of my favourite places, either for a nice walk or a jog. There is plenty of wildlife and a great place to take your children to feed the ducks. I often walk my dog and it is very clean. The cafe is really nice too and friendly staff, you can also buy a bag of seeds to feed the ducks.

I am now in my 60,S and was brought up on the res and regularly walk the dog there 3 or 4 times a week. Fishing the waters as a child catching loads of roach and hybrids those were the days but never mind, back to reality. Over the years the pathway around the res has been reduced in length but has been improved over the last couple of years so much so that the cyclists some of them inconsiderate can ride around even faster each lap, then there are the people that allow their dogs to foul the footpaths plus the horse riders who come they don’t have to clean up after there animals will this ever change I doubt it,on a brighter note there is a very nice cafe. Pam and Ray plus the Friends of the Res do a terrific job cleaning up after the inconsiderates, pop bottles, beer cans and fast food wrappers abound. Notts AA do a very poor job of looking after the fishery Pam and Ray do there best. In the warmer weather stuff floats up off bottom of the lake making the water a horrible sinking green mess. Having had my moan will I be walking my dog there tomorrow, probably.

As a family we love walking our dog around the reservoir. It is a pleasure to see all the ducks, geese, swans, etc. around the water. You see other people with their dogs, exchange pleasantries, and carry on the walk. Joggers, cyclists and other people make it a pleasant walk. The cafe is a nice way to take a break, with a large menu to choose from, hot and cold. It’s a relaxing way to enjoy leisure time. Photographers are a plenty with lots of wildlife photos to be taken, and birdwatchers are always in attendance. Well worth a visit. There is a car park situated off the A617. Go try it, you won’t be disappointed, and the walk is free. For families and all people.

This is a great place to visit and the parking is free. Open Mon to Thurs 10am till 4pm and Fri 10am till 3pm and Sat & Sun 10am till 4pm. The reservoir has a variety of wildlife, and includes an adventure base, sailing, angling, model boat sailing, walking, bird watching and cycling and a café offering refreshments exhibitions and information. Well worth a visit and I would recommend it to everyone.

Started taking the dog for walks around here but the swans by the restaurant are causing an issue as people are feeding them on the path and then attack you when you try and walk past. Lots of people turning back because of them.
