Outstanding golf club and course. Friendly members and pro. Course in superb condition. Greens immaculate and heather in full bloom at this time of year. Very much enjoyed my visit

Not worth the £90 green fee
Aug 2021 • Friends
Really not worth the £90 green fee.

Very average course

Not a course I would re-visit.

Really couldn’t see how they can justify the green fee.

Overall a very disappointing trip.

Good course but slightly disappointing layout
Jun 2021 • Friends
Course was well prepared with very good greens. Good driving range and short play area. Slightly disappointing layout with a number of blind tees shots. Was held up for 20 mins on 4th hole as the short 3rd and par 3, 4th holes are on top of each other. Back 9 is much more challenging.

Great Golfing Challenge
Aug 2020 • Friends
Played a Fourball, but arrived early to have a late breakfast, which was great and good value. The Course was in excellent condition : the Tees, Fairways & Greens were superb. It provided a great challenge.
Comment : None of the Tees had the Hole Number. After some greens, it would be good to have a sign for Next Tee.

Excellent course but take plenty of balls
Aug 2019
I played this course yesterday in tough conditions with plenty of rain falling.
The greens were in excellent condition, slick and consistent. The fairways were a bit on the short side (almost links like) and there is plenty of heather around if you stray into the rough.
It is on a huge site and you rarely see a different hole from the one that you are playing and there is quite a bit of walking from green to tee.
Definitely worth playing.

OK a difficult and, for the East Midlands, an expensive golf course
Jul 2019
I think I might be about to do a an 'Emperor's New Clothes' review on this venue. I do not know where the ranking of the course is generated, but I have played the Old Course and the Brabazon (Belfry) in the UK, and rankings do not impress me. The course is hard to play, not necessarily a selling point unless you play to much better than an average golfer (in my view about 10 here). There are no outstanding views, there is no fairway I could make out on any par 3, and heather and bunkers adorn the place (I think to a detrimental amount). 'Knock yourself out' as a really low handicap player but, in my view, there are much more satisfying golf courses nearby and much cheaper (about a half to a third) if you are prepapred to move 15 miles east. I am not sure where this place is ptiching itself in the golfing fraternity, as I cannot imagine being a 'normal' golfing member at this club. Perhaps it is trying to compete with other, more well known venues; I will not know as once is enough. An average score is given as a blend of the price and my experience.

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review our course. In response to the review of the course we are a championship venue and do have difficult holes. Thanks again :)

Excellent course and facilities for competitions
Sep 2018 • Business
Hosted a recent competition at Sherwood and the management could not have provided a better service to cater for our needs. The course itself was fantastic and provided a great competition for the golfers. The catering staff were also great and Mark paid a lot of attention to detail with our group! The food served is of great value and generous portion sizes. Food always arrived quickly. They catered for our needs when needing take away sandwiches for people out on the course. I would definitely return to this golf club!

Amazing course

Sherwood is a fantastic golf course which tests all your abilities.
It is a heathland course with heather, gorse and long wispy rough.
The greens are fast and true with subtle breaks. The fairways are fasts and with long carries from the tee boxes.
From the 9th hole to the 18th is where the course shows its teeth and you will need to play very to post a good score, in particular if the wind blows in your face.
The bunkers are strategically positioned and they easily catch your ball if you hit poorly or off line.
The only criticism to raise is that bunkers have no sand at times and they can be hard and sand explosion are unlikely. It is a pity a golf like that shows such a shortfall.
Despite this I strongly recommend to visit the wonderful place.

Great golf course
Jul 2017 • Friends
Played Sherwood Forest last weekend with my brother in law, what a golf course !.
Enjoyed every minute, tough track but fair. Need to get of the tee well to get a decent score.
Greens were really good, slick smooth and true. The pro shop staff were extremely helpful, and after the golf the bar staff made us welcome and the food we had was good value and very tasty. Try the 'Rock Shandy' for a tasty refreshing non alcoholic drink.
Cannot wait to go back again to play this excellent course, all round 5 star experience.
