Used to be great .... but could still be better than average

A great Museum but the Tourist Info Centre inside was amazing 7 years or so back

Even probably 2 and half to 3 years back it was still fairly half decent - I have seen better TIC's and many far far worse - even compared to the level it is at now, it's still "average" - though i guess this is what cutbacks and corona brings as physical TICs are closing at the same rate as pubs

Sadly as a frequent-ish visitor to Mansfield - it has a way better Centre than Chesterfield - but the Council should do more I think to compete with Chesterfield and get Mansfield's Official TIC Status back that it lost about 25/30 years back.

The Town and District deserves an official TIC I think

If you happen to be passing then by all means call in especially if you have young children, but do not make any special arrangements to go here as you’ve seen it all after 5 minutes.

Not bad but not great

I found it somewhat entertaining as I was interested in the history of my town. Not sure a visitor would be that interested. I guess it would kill a maximum of an hour on a rainy day then you can alway go over the road to Weatherspoons for unlimted hot drinks £1.20. If you come to Mansfield Swim at Watermedows thats good. Visit Carbank park

A must see

This museum is just up from the Carnegie Library on Leeming Street. It starts off as one very long room, and then opens out into a few large rooms. Mansfield was a very industrious place in it’s hey day. From shoes, to all types of tins and beer, Mansfield was producing it.
We were sitting watching a video when a school group upstairs starting screaming and jumping up and down. We couldn’t hear anything. Lucky you can turn the tv up, so we did. In the next rooms are many water paintings of buildings that were torn down, such a shame.
The museum is free, but there is a donation box. There are toilets too. There are books and other things to buy, but they only take cash.
