Fishing at kelham hall
Dec 2019
Paid for a yearly fishing permit at kelham hall they then decided they would be stopping the yearly permits and all pegs would have to be booked.
They offered all anglers who has a yearly permit a percentage of their stake back but after contacting them on several occasions me and others are still waiting .
I would advise any anglers to check the fishing out before they pre-book pegs , the prices they charge are very high , the pegs are to close together plus they charge extra for parking your cars.
I for one won't be going back and have purchased a season ticket on another stretch of the Trent for the price of 2 days they charge a kelham .
Come on kelham do the right thing and pay back the money owed to me and other anglers who paid for a yearly permit .

A Gothic stately home more than well worth a visit
Dec 2019
Have been meaning to write a review of Kelham Hall since our visit just before Christmas last year, pre covid. We were so lucky to be given an exclusive tour of the Hall, with its stunning Gothic interior. It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, architect of the St Pancras building, the style is immediately recognizeable. It was featured in the BBC TV documentary 'The Family that built Gothic Britain', available to watch on YouTube. While there we visited the oil museum, which included information on Duke's Wood, Eakring. We were delighted to find mention of my husband's father, who worked there as one of the managers. We were told that the Hall is being made into a hotel - would love to stay there if and when it happens. According to the Hall's leaflet, outside of covid times (it is now closed) there are lots of activities there, like caravan and camping, fishing, tennis, woodland and country walks, a play area, afternoon teas, and a must-do guided tour of the building. If you're a lover of Gothic architecture, do pay a visit.

A must to visit.

Arrived to visit a grave at the Cemetery. Was made extremely welcome by Johnathon. He even allowed us to have a look round the hall. I had not been inside the hall for over 25 years. So it was a privilege for us both to be allowed to go inside. Next time we are going to be in the area, we're from Scotland, we are going to let Johnathon know and let Johnathon give us the full tour. Cheers Johnathon. Andy, Shaun and Benji the dog.

A lovely place let down by its facilities.
Aug 2020 • Friends
At the moment the hall is closed, but the grounds are pleasant to walk and picnic in. My main concern is the state of the toilets and facilities, particularly in light of the Covid situation. They were dirty, with no hand sanitizer anywhere, no limit on numbers using them, which meant you were literally brushing past people coming and going and I was very surprised that they were allowed to be open with no safety measures in place, and considering the large number of people using them from the campsite.

First family camping trip
Aug 2020 • Family
This is our 1st ever camping trip with our 4 young children (3,4,9,11). We arrived mid afternoon on the Thursday to find we were able to be shown straight to our pitch. Pleased with the space available and on arrival we had nobody else near us. Loads of room for a large tent and our van on our pitch.
Kids loved exploring the children’s play areas and going for a walk through the grounds early evening.
Toilets were clean and they also have family shower rooms on the site which was a bonus for a large family.
We went for breakfast at the Fox Inn which was pricey £70 for 6 people) but the food was excellent quality so we didn’t mind. It was too windy to cook that day.
Staff on hand to help if needed and even came to jump start our van after it went flat running the cool box overnight!
We also had read some negative reviews but have been pleasantly surprised and will defiantly visit again.
Like others have said it’s a shame that some other family’s have little respect for others and allow their children to run about unattended after 11pm when some with young toddlers are trying to let them sleep. This isn’t really down to the campsite to sort though and I suspect this happens everywhere.
We will definitely book again and have already tried for bank hol weekend but not surprisingly it’s fully booked!

Lovely family campsite but needs some TLC
Aug 2020 • Family
I decided to book 3 nights camping for myself, my young boys, a friend and her teenage children. Setting is lovely, nice large pitches with electric hook ups. Due to COVID the house and maize maze was closed, but we made good use of the grounds with the river Trent setting. Plenty of trees to climb and space for the children to play and explore. My only disappointment was the wash facilities. Two family shower rooms were provided in a mobile, others supplied were a fair trek across the site located within the hall itself. Toilets and hand wash facilities were in another mobile but there was nowhere to have a quick strip wash ( no cubicles). Also had to be careful not to trip over the leads for the hook up extension boxes. If a little more attention was made to this area, I think they were have a lovely family site in the future.

Disappointing
Aug 2020
Went for a walk around Kelham Hall. Fantastic grounds but upset me to observe the following: 1, Rubbish around the grounds and through the tree line, 2, Black bags left by campers at the side of electric points, 3, Rubbish bins overflowing lids not being able to close this must be a health risk and an attraction to vermin, 4, BBQ/Coals ash dumped in the tree line thankfully it had been raining otherwise this could have been a major fire hazard. really disappointing that the grounds are not looked after and cared for better when he allows campers to use this site.

Camping weekend
Aug 2020 • Family
Beautiful hall and grounds however the amenities let it down. Other than the hall there was one toilet block but every other toilet and sink was out of use due to Covid safety reasons. Toilets were dated. Only one area for washing up facilities, 2 sinks next to each other so only 1 person able to use at a time. Close to a busy main road which was noisy at night. Campers supposed to be quiet between 10pm and 8pm but some completely ignored that. Drinking appeared to begin before breakfast. The pub across the road appears to no connected to the camp site. We were overcharged for drinks. We ordered pizza to take away. They were over priced for what they were and we waited a long time. We went in for breakfast the day we left. The coffee machine wasn’t working. The hot chocolate was disgusting and half the items were missing from a full breakfast .
